New player seeking class selection advice

Morning,

Old Rallos/Sullon player (Abobo - beastlord / Horror - shad) looking to try out Red99. Been playing on blue and finding myself a little bored of the grind and missing PVP. Couple of questions.

Is there still a Red99 XP bonus and what is it?

I play mainly solo, but would love to find a guild or steady group with to camp, raid and PVP with. Any classes that would work best for this approach?

I play mainly at night MST, and need to have the ability to solo if I cannot find a group. I also have a goal of obtaining my epic, so I'm considering that.

Already leaning towards a necro, shad, paladin or wizard. Should I be considering anythin else?

Finally, any guilds recruiting new players? Would like to start off right and find a home early.

Thanks all and appreciate any feedback.

Red Dawn is the only guild that groups as they level on a wide scale, so they're a safe bet and would welcome you in.

There's always a shortage of clerics if you're in the mood to start one. I wrote a solo cleric guide which is on the wiki (but more with the blue server in mind as it includes Unrest). Wizard/necro would give you the solo ability... SKs seem popular here, you'd be in good company.

Overall roll whatever you feel in the mood to play, and enjoy the experience... there's still an XP bonus compared to blue and its quicker to level, but it isn't as high as it was over the thanksgiving weekend.

You can chat in global /ooc at Level 10. Get involved or switch it off, your choice ;)

Yes, there is a bonus. Not sure what it actually is atm.

You will have to solo no matter what you do. Good luck with your epic lol probably going to need to pay to get that.

Pretty sure you will slit your wrists if you try to start a shadowknight or paladin here. Wizard is viable, but you might cry until you hit lvl 29 since you basically blow your mana then med to full (and hope a blue doesn't fucking kill you due to random resists). Necromancer is real easy, but resists are not classic so they are weaker than they should be in PvP. If you go necro or wizard I can make your spells for you all the way to 50.

Best bet is to join the gravy train like everyone else and use Red Dawn as a shield. Otherwise you are just gonna get griefed off the server or be so bored you will quit.

If you are starting from scratch, then I would play a caster over a melee. In particular I recommend a druid because of their ability to solo, survivability, and mobility. If you are able to transfer some plat and get a Jboots MQ, then maybe a Wizzy.

Actually the bonus is not on at the moment, not sure if this is intentionally or not, or if it is permanent.

Vanzans advice is pretty good, especially at lower levels groups are rare and you ll need to be able to get levels on your own while evading the fucking annoying twinked out newbiekillers in unrest for instance. Necros is also a viable choice.

I think red dawn take in lowbies, not sure about any other guilds, im not a fan of the guildleader checkraise, but he may still have a good home for a levelling toon.

I'd say consider making a bard also. They can solo very well between 5-50 and are welcome additions to groups.

Shadowknight.

My advice to you.... Don't take the easy way out and join nihilum, it is bad for the server. They do not need anymore members.
