EQLog Not Working

When I type "/log on" it tells me that it is now logging to eqlog.txt but this file does not exist anywhere on my computer. I have 5 or 6 EQ directories but I have checked them all and it is not there. I searched through the forums but didn't see any fixes for this. Also, screenshots don't save on either of my computers. There isn't even a screenshot folder in my desktop's P99 directory.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Do not know if I am of any help or not. But mine makes a directory "logs".

For example, mine is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\Logs

If you do not see the logs directory in your eq folder, I wonder if you were to open your eq ini file and change the logging to TRUE so that it does it automatically it would force it to make the directory and thus the log? This would be the following (for me):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest

Then look for the file "eqclient". If using notepad, make sure you change to all files so it is not on the default .txt. Also make sure you open notepad as admin or you may have troubles saving. This will make it though that your log is always on. But then at least can go in and change it off, albeit manually. Look for Logs and change it to true:

Logs=true

Someone with more expertise may know why when you type in log on it is not making the directory. Are you looking in right place?

Also, with a screenshot, I think that just saves it to the clipboard? For me, I open up photoshop and put it into there (control+V) or paste, and then save it. But I did not know it automatically saves.

Hope this helps some.

EDIT: PS-

If you edit the config file to logging to true, make sure you are not in eq when you do it, or the config file will just overwrite what it is at the moment and thus will not save.

Hey, Etara, thanks for the help!

Yes, it does have a directory called logs but there is only a file there called DBG that does not contain my EQ logs. I changed the setting to TRUE as you've suggested but have not been able to test it out yet.

As far as screenshots, yes I am able to do them with printscreen it's just slightly less convenient than hitting the "-" key and having them go to a folder automatically. Not as concerned with this but still, thanks for the input on it :).

I agree with the convenience of the hyphen one!

I am stumped, no idea why your logs aren't working. Over my head, but hope maybe changing the config file will fix it!

Alright, turns out I'm an idiot but I'll post it here and leave it in case some other poor soul is as helpless as me:

The fix was..... running P99 as administrator. I now have logs and screenshots.

*sigh*

Thanks, again!

awesome :)

And do not worry, I make those kind of moves all the time. I just blame missing my coffee quota.

Yeah uhh, you gotta run it as admin! Stembolt saves the day again! Thanks captain hindsight!
