HUnting in the `wrong` places
I recently came across several instances of high lvl players being snobby about the abilities of lower lvl players.
I started playing on this server ~ 3 weeks ago, but have had fair amount of free time recently, and with out playing ever day or being power lvled am now lvl 40. tbh I chose the class that would vlv fastest: hfl druid. I admit this was perverse of me as i dont like playing druids! However i knew exactly where to lvl this toon pretty fast to lvl 30. am a fan of certain kunark zones, and was able to get my Howling stones key at lvl 37. However i realise i cant zone in their alone, as i cant beat the mobs at zin. Ive had too arguement with 55+ players about the dangers of the zin area. AM wondering did they nerf the zin area on live when they changed the key requirements? or when they changed chardok? AM sure that the zin area has mobs that are 37-41 ? Yet some folk are telling me ingame that the area is full of 45-51 lvl mobs. imo they are lying. chking zam shows there are mobs around lvl 40 to be hunted. greater plaguebone 41 - 42 Undead Howling Stones (Charasis) No Picture Included greater war boned skeleton 44 - 47 Undead Howling Stones (Charasis) SO basically this comes down to eliteism or people trying to keep others out of `their` playground. I realise this is a dangerous zone.....but as i first went to kunark in june 2000, am not unaware of this!! Now i have grped with plenty of eq nuubs in last 2 weeks, but why are people lvl snobs?...sheer ignorance? yeah i dont have ubber gear, but i do have the zone knowledge. However ......(continued) |
Hunt where you want, don't let people get to you... I've had people try to take me out of various camps for being too high before (Lower Guk is one of a few), but I was gaining XP and camping a spawn so I put it down to that.
People want access to pixels... they'll look for any way they can to get at them :p |
....its possible that i went to this zone first after velious came out, so maybe i had some gear on me that was beyond where things are at atmo.
I know drus arent dungeon classes as such, but with a few others they can cope fine indoors.....infact lets be honest ive spent rpobably over 100 hours in this zone over the years; its myfav zone in the expansion. Had to zone into KC this morning to cast ej evac....and got abused by some players fro being there. I dont like KC so i didnt go in by choice, but this was more of the same eliteism. It must be a hard life for these folk who have to look down their noses at others.....smacks of insecurity imo. Far as i am aware i can damage mobs that yellow to me, and have every right to hunt those mobs.....however my role in a grp tends to be patch healer/buffer. AM a useful utility player. I see no reason why i cant grp with toons 5 lvls higher if i help them function better....am i leeching exp if i reduce their down time? ok end of rant) edit--- maybe i should be more `honest` and lvl a shaman, which is more of a dungeon class than dru.....easier to take a few hits with a shm, as dru relies on keeping a mob outof hit range.....much harder in a confined area like HS. atmo quading doesnt appeal to me, i prefer social interaction of grpage.....for which dru post lvl 40 are less desired??? |
Zone in mobs are around level 50. I've had Kunark spell drops off entrance mobs so they are around 50. Also mobs below 50 won't break root early on me and they do a lot at entrance. I started soloing in there on my shaman at 54. Only had problems one time when they mobs magically chain bashed me with perfect timing and I never could get a root to land.

have to confess, the dru is in the ice box, and will come out when i can kite in ewastes.
