Debating Joining Project 1999

I'm an old gamer from back in the pre kunark days.

I played a druid and got to kill nagafin and after that i called it done! But I always wanted to play a necromancer. Am i just experiencing rose colored glasses and nostalgia or was there really something that new games are missing from the old style of EQ. Is it possible to go see some of the content I never got to do and kill dragons and gods? Or has the influx of tech and information caused problems with non instanced raids and uber guilds who kill everything the moment it pops?

Convince me to join! please! and if anyone needs a necromancer I wouldn't mind some friends to start out with!

Both servers have trouble raiding because they're top-heavy and people have all the raid information now, yes. That said, smaller casual raiding guilds do exist and they do get some dragons. If you're wanting Trak though, you'd better be prepared to join a hardcore zerg guild.

I see,

That's too bad, I'm surprised there's that many people playing, although I guess I am late to this party, so chances are everyone is raid level already.

Like you, I played EQ back in the old days and quit fairly soon after PoP came out. I just started up Project1999 last night and am already enjoying it. There's just something about the old EQ that will never die, IMO.

Feel free to send me a message in-game if you decide to play!

I attribute it to corpses. EQ wouldn't be EQ without a terrain littered with player corpses! :D

Yes, there are many, many lvl 60s and there *can be* competition for raids, but I wouldn't worry about that too much right now. Velious changes everything.

Welcome to the server! :)

How do:)es velious change it? I stopped playing when kunark came out originally.

Velious has lots of new raids, and instead of Trak and VP being unavailable to everyone not in a zerg guild it will be NToV/ST.

I think Tiggles said it best: the poopsocking guilds that have a monopoly on the raid bosses will move on to Velious, leaving the rest of players with their "Kunark scraps."

True story. Just check the raid mob spawns in old worlds now that Kunark is out, TMO never touches those.
