Question about obtaining Epics
 

Hey guys,

So, my brother and I play P99. My main is a 37 Necro, his is a 19 Enchanter and I play a 19 Druid with his Enchanter. I played EQ Live back in the day as a Necromancer (with my epic) and I quit just before the release of the expansion after PoP.

So, I told my brother about epic weapon quests and how awesome they are. He really wants to do his when he gets of level, as do I. I started to think though, what's the likelihood of someone not in a major raiding guild obtaining their epic since the mobs are on lock down?

The Enchanter epic doesn't seem like it would be that difficult since none of the mobs are highly contested (i.e. Trak, Cazic, Inny, Venril) but the Necromancer and Druid epic seem next to impossible to do.

So, I just kind of wanted an opinion from you guys. Is it really as impossible as it seems?

The chanter is a bit annoying to camp Verina and Vessel, and can take a while to do (and lots of camping), but is doable by anyone with some good friends or near any guild.

Almost zero, unless you can farm up near a million platinum or something.

Why not just join a raiding guild?

My name is a 60 enchanter with his epic and I'm not in a raiding guild. But as me ruined above you definitely either A) need to get lucky with Verina and the vanilla mob because they are on random 2-7 day spawn timers or B) just camp them for days. The cabilis mob is a tougher fight but doesn't seem to be as contested as Verina. The chanter epic is just alot of long camps so anyone with patience can do it

wait for velious they'll be giving these things away.

there has been threads past few months about the cleric epic along the lines you describe: ie, a nightmare, because the key mobs are being gobbled up by the Imperial Warlords of Norrath or whatever these strange people call themselves.

But my take? I understand the cleric epic. I can imagine it being total fuckery to deal with, cuz The Imperial Warlords of Norrath need alts with sprinklers. But other epics, I do not think this server is so horrible, that negotiations can't be made.

Short version: join a decent active guild, and work it. And you will get them. But you guys are still way low level, imho. Might be a nice thought to have yer epic at a lower level, but shit aint classic, as Agatha would say.

Thank you guys for the input! I really hope when Velious releases the stranglehold on older raid mobs lets up so us casual folks can get our epics too. I really don't want to buy it.

Anyone recall how far into the Velious timeline it was when they added the epic drops to other bosses/added VS Remains?

enc is doable

The gap is wide between the ability to get your epic depending on class...

Rogue, shaman, monk, chanter are the easiest...even for sale sometime.

The others, you need a guild...some a top guid.

cleric epic is pretty damn obtainable. Really only 1 contested mob.
