RPG Crossing/PBP D&D

Anyone have any experience with http://www.rpgcrossing.com/ or other PBP (Play-by-Post) D&D sites? I have such mixed feelings about the site-- 50% of contributors are anime-obsessed and name their characters Sephiroth or some such, are generally terrible at writing/playing D&D, etc. Wonderful platform and medium, but it seems like a majority of PBP sites have a small community of dedicated players that are serious (i.e. good writers), have their games running for years, and tend to wall themselves in, which makes penetrating the community very difficult.

Any experiences on similar sites? Any D&D playaz?

I like the concept, but nothing beats getting together at a buddies house and playing a campaign to the wee hours of the morning. I just don't think I dunno if I could get into it, but I may give it a try!

I currently run a campaign every friday night with friends in several different locations in the United States. Been going for ~3 months now. The system is Pathfinder and the campaign is one of the Adventure Paths because I'm unoriginal.
