Staying connected (while afk)

Hey guys, so today I tried leaving a character in EC to upload logs for Tristantio's auction tracker.

Having problems staying connected though, I can understand why I'm getting booted off for inactivity. Are there any tips for staying on when you're not at the keyboard? Anyone with EC mule experience might be able to give me some direction here :)

Thanks in advance.

I stay online afk for weeks at a time on Bob...Most a likely hardware issue on your end. Or your internet provider

I saw in a thread previously you where using a laptop. Some laptops shut off there network cards when they goto sleep or screen saver mode or something like that.

Hmm interesting. I have made sure I'm being bad for the environment and leaving the screen on. No screensaver, just as if I was sat here at the computer.

My ISP isn't great, but its not in the habit of disconnects like that. I'm on a wired (ethernet) connection so it's not a wifi issue. There was one case earlier where I was actually sitting here and the game dropped me to the desktop... the screen was minimized, but having already kicked me when I left the screen open earlier on I figure its not to do with an open or minimized window.

The other thing...when I play I don't get disconnects. Quite puzzled by it

Has to be a hardware setting. Go into your power settings..set laptop to high performance. Then go into advanced and check all those settings. Make sure everything is set to 'never'

One of those settings is your issue is my guess.

./agree

Power options has many features including when to turn off your Hard Disk. :x

Yep sure enough, never looked at the advanced settings before... HDD was set to turn off after 20 minutes, which accounts for the disconnects - thanks for the help :)
