Shaman epic dot aggro.

Howdy creators of p99

Got my shaman epic (Spear of Fate) this week and noticed a difference in aggro. When you land the clicky spell it automatically generates initial aggro, before any tick is applied. Im 99% positive that this is not as it was on live. Could you please confirm or comment on this?

When the epic DoT lands it does 11 Damage.

1320 damage in 14 ticks

Land DoT - 11
1 - 22
2 - 33
3 - 44
4 - 55
5 - 66
6 - 77
7 - 88
8 - 99
9 - 110
10 - 121
11 - 132
12 - 143
13 - 154
14 - 165

Ok thatīs correct. But this scenario I donīt remember from live:
Sending pet on a mob doing damage for 8-12s and then I land my epic dot and no matter what the mob will turn to me.

So the initial aggro value must be too high, non?

You might hafta find some posts from ~2000 describing that happening pal.

It should work like splurt did, check around for evidence of that also.

I believe agro works through potential damage. Since the dot has a higher potential dmg then the pet, it would get the agro over him.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I don't have any data to back it up but my shady memory. Have clicked it so much on live back then though that it must be different here. I remember snapping aggro off pet after 4-5 ticks - but never after initial cast.

Pet aggro is also notoriously low on this server.

I think this is the culprit.

Hmm good point. Can any of the staff look into this if you want/have the time ;)

Ignite blood had the craziest amount of aggro in classic.

Potential >

That's why warriors were rocking bloodfire/spined dragon claw combo for so long (aside from 2handers being GARBAGE until into Velious)
