No Music Playing?

I'm not entirely sure if something changed in the last year since I took a leave of the server, but I noticed the other day while in Freeport that there's no music to be had, at all. No trainer music, no bank / vendor music, not even zone music.

I'm curious why that is. I have all my options turned on for sound (Environment Sounds, Music volume to 100%) so I'm not sure why they don't play now. Did something on the server change or is there a possibility the problem is on my end?

Just curious if anyone knows. I miss the music in this game so much and would rather hear it in game than on a playlist on a music player. :P

(Yes, I used the search feature but my use of keywords probably sucks because I just get a lot of unrelated discussion in other forums)

There's a setting in eqclient.ini that will disable all music. I don't remember the exact name, but I disabled mine b/c I couldn't stand hearing the music on the loading screens since I crash a lot while zoning etc.

All I found was the options that control the volume level and whether combat music plays, which are:

CombatMusic=1
Music=20

The latter of which I assume is the volume level.

If there's another variable there that I'm missing that would make sense as to why it's not playing.

Hmm, my CombatMusic variable is 0 but that seemed to at least kill the loading music for me. Try increasing the "Music" variable to 100 and see if that helps.

I've had this problem before and it was my computer settings that caused it. Go into whatever audio program your computer has or the basic master volume thing and see if you have a SW or midi synth dial and make sure it's not turned down. Whenever my music wasn't working that was the problem.

I never would've thought to fiddle with SW Synth. Thank you, that got it working perfectly. :)
