Friday Outage

Quote:

At 4:28 PM EST today, a 48-port gigabit module in one of our core routers had a failure and disabled 12 ports affecting a number of customers. Because of the number of currently active customers remaining on this module, we elected not to restart it, but transition one-by-one the affected customers to an alternate module. Our Sr. Cisco engineers currently have a case open with Cisco TAC to investigate this issue further. We may take advantage of the upcoming maintenance window this Sunday, December 5th to restart this module in an attempt to restore service to the affected ports. Migrated customers will not be affected by any restart action we may take.

As additional information becomes available, we will update you. Thank you for your patience as we worked as quickly as possible to pinpoint the cause and migrate customers.

You run the server for free and you have senior cisco engineers?

As soon as I am less poor I will be sure to donate. Thanks for all your efforts on the server and everything.

It was a quote from the data center we operate in, which has cisco engineers.

Ah, the old data center line. That one has been around since the abacus.
