Faction Boons and Duds

Leaving aside the three main Velious factions.

Which faction did you do work on that really paid off? (Great boon)

Which faction did you work on that you really regret getting? (Big dud)

Neriak faction is a big winner. Many great dungeons, (mana free) wiz port, dru port, EC, shadowed rapiers all nearby. Plus not getting ganked by the dark elf camp in l fay and nice vendors in sro.

I had fun doing the cabilis factions; is it a great boon to run through as a human cleric? Not sure about that, but it sure is fun.

For my ikky necro I hung around Kunark until the 30s and then made a few nightly visits to an abandoned crushbone to up my sisters faction. Then I moved to OOT and haven't had to leave in 20 levels except to go spell hunting and snag gear from ec on occasion.

I second Cabilis. Kunark is a big barren island with cities only on the outskirts or in the middle.

Keeping Overthere faction on my Shaman and Cleric is working out very well.

Ogre Rallos Zek Shaman and Human Innoruuk Cleric both can use vendors for spells, bank freely, and spell-turn in quests (much quicker than running to FV)

Came in super-duper handy on Shaman when I was levelling 55-60. Was able to bind in bear pits in Permafrost, and only needed to emerge to OT outpost when I needed bandages, food and water.

Rivervale faction is really handy. Closest bank to a druid port, easy faction to fix

And while you're at it you can get your own Leatherfoot Raider's Skullcap

I did Cabalis on a Bard, mainly to see if i could.

Not sure it was worth the 10,000 Bone Chips... yes i documented them all at the time, but is still nice to be able to run through and bank there in safety.

If anyone wants the numbers:

"turn-ins" refers to 4 at a time.

Paineel faction is obviously a plus. NFP guards is useful too for being able to bank easily near EC without having to try to do the wall trick, get an invis, etc.

One that I did some work on Green for was the Qeynos merchants (can't remember what it's called) because I could kill those two Rangers in SFG for exp and awesome plat and there's a Qeynos factioned vendor right next to them to sell to who never goes KOS from killing the Rangers. Awesome convenience and well worth tipping a Druid to run all the way to Qeynos (no SFG port at the time) to wolf form me for faction turn in.

Idk that I've had many factions that I personally worked on that turned out to be duds. I'd argue Cabilis might be one since honestly it's not THAT far from FV based on the way Kunark zones are set up. Doesn't seem to be much benefit versus the grueling time it takes to grind it.
