New Necro, after 20+ years.
 

Happy to be back in the game that almost caused me to fail out of college ;).

Anyway, I started a Erudite and began in Paineel. After at least an hour, wandering around in the city I finally found the elevator out....half our later I figured out how to get the key.

After some killing in the newbie field I hit level two, encountered some friendly folks who buffed me and gifted me their copper, and purchased my first spells. Happy to be playing again.

So, my question is, any tips on starting in this area? Back in the day I started over in Freeport so I'm even less familiar with this area than others.

Travel to Qeynos / Blackburrow area instead if possible? Rolled an Iksar Necro myself as that was what my younger brother played in Summer 2000 and FoB / Kurn's is so good for a newbie.

That's actually where I started back in the day. My original character was a half elf ranger, started in the Qeynos area. Loooong trip.

At this point I'm leveling in the Warrens up to 12, at that point I'll have to figure out where I want to go. Looking for options there if anyone has recommendations.

Highly recommend starting an Iksar Necro. Great starter area, you'll hit level 20 without needing to go far from your home city.

Lizard regen will pay off bigly later on, too.

Pretty sure your necro will be kos in qeynos, so you will have to use the aquaducts or whatever. I agree blackburrow would be the easiest levelling path and you would have bandits in qeynos hills once you tire of gnolls. But if you are just looking for adventure and you like to solo (usually these zones are empty in my experience), I am sure you could find enough to do in Toxxulia or The Warrens.

Oh for pity's sake, I thought I was on the other side of the continent for some reason, not as far west as you can possibly go. Qeynos is pretty close, I'll head over then.

Also, how long do mods watch every single post?
