That's completely fucked. Mages are currently hamstrung by this mechanic not working like that. When a mage pet dies the mage gets ALL of the aggro that the mage pet built.

It's a totally different mechanic and works the same for all charm classes. When you charm a mob it wipes his memory. When the charm breaks the Bard has a single point of threat, but that's it - no additional threat nor any of the damage dealt by/to that pet is remembered.
Bard charming is usually done by swapping back and forth between two mobs, using this mechanic. IE:
Charm pet 1
Dot up pet 2
On break of pet 1 (which has only one point of aggro on bard), charm pet 2
Dot up pet 1
If a bard has to keep the same pet for some reason (ie trying to kill a named that he cannot charm), then the bard has to either kite the named, not use dots/slows on the named, or use his threat drop song to remove his threat
