Progression Server
 

Hey folks. I started here with Green when it was a new progression server. I'd love to see that happen again. Are there licensing issues that prevent us from doing it again? Like would we have to merge green and blue to have the right number of servers or something?

Just curious what the issues are. I'm sure there must be something that keeps us from doing a day one server again.

As far as I know there isn't a legal issue. It's just up to the devs when they want to roll a new server.

My hunch is they are still torn on how they want to do it. Will they merge green and blue? If so, how do the characters from both servers on a single account get merged together nicely? If the servers don't merge, then the population is probably going to be too split. If they delete a server and it's characters, you'll probably get a lot of people who just stop playing, etc.

Do whatever you want with blue/green. Treat them like you do red for all I care.
New server with no reserved guild or char names. We need a kickstarter for the hardware and hosting?

They already said if you have duplicate names that they would add an X to the Green char's name if you used the same name as your Blue character.

They also gave a very explicit warning upfront that if you created Green characters on the same account that you use on Blue, and in the aggregate had more than 8 characters between the two accounts, you would not be able to see some of the characters on the character select screen post-merge. You'd need to delete existing characters to have the excess ones show up. They were clear that this was a limitation of the client and not P99...so not sure if they'd ever be able to find a workaround for that, but in any case they were very clear about the risk and if someone didn't listen to them that's on that person not the staff.

You'd have to at least reserve char names in the same way they did for Green. If for nothing else than to prevent jerks from creating a char name of somebody and griefing others to try and ruin their rep on P99 in general.

Oh I agree it isn't an insurmountable problem, and they can cover themselves by giving people warnings. But people are often unreasonable, and/or may have missed the memo.

It's still a risk you'll lose players if the merge doesn't go smoothly. Especially for players who can't play their favorite character right away for whatever reason.

Personally I think merging is still the best option so you don't have a 3-way population split. That will end up being worse than merging issues, unless they really drop the ball somehow.

What's stopping this silly possibility anywhere else? I made your name on tlp and twitter and even filled out a prayer request at your local church for fetish porn addiction (too far?). But hey, atleast no-one can make the same char name on a new server as that guy that died six years ago.
I get that green/blue is what it is but why treat a name like it's an NFT? I don't really care about the names but i don't understand creating a pile of work for no reason. New. Fresh. Nepo-free. Either way, Why must we put grandma in a home before we can have a baby, doug?

Because it's their project and there are a lot of a holes on this server who would intentionally do that and ruin peoples' names within the community of this specific project. The risk outweighs the benefit.

Oh! Well that is a pretty good reason to punish the few people that have to deal with that box of old christmas lights. (please forgive my apparent snarkiness). I really hope they come up with something that pleases all of the 2-3000 people equally. I just, stupidly, thought a clean slate would be both classic and solve the name issue.
