I'm interested in more posts speculating on the cause of the boomer Ego.
What were it's influences? Which television programs or world events/traditions helped shape what we know as the Baby Boomer?
If you can bring the woke JD then prove it.

There was a lot going on there. First of all, it was simply easy to buy a house and support yourself in the post war economy...and it continued to be so until the 70s...this when boomers already had their jobs and houses...and even if they didn't the god damn gen-xers were too much of a mess right out of high school and college to compete for any of the better jobs.
This combined with a big backlash against conformity...They were still killing homosexuals for being a communist threat and black leaders etc...a lot different than the current situation on identity politics.
Boomers are the TV generation. They grew up watching TV...expecting commercials..having money to buy whats on the commercials (and not needing to spend it on future savings or housing). They never grew out of this.
Boomers bought there own BS...that the hippie generation was a defining moment for all of the generation...despite that the kids didn't do a lot (Johnson and his red-neck mentality did -- and to a lesser degree Kennedy by working with MLK). They looked at this is like "yea that's us" without releasing it was a small subset of rich white stoners that everyone else in there generation hated (and voted against come Nixon).
Boomers don't really think anyone has it hard because they never did. Is a common underline theme. What comes to mind is this grey haired boomer professor I had...she actually the question to this small 400 writing class "why do some kids seem to do so well with school and be involved with extra caricular activities (referring to some frat girl as a positive example) and others not?"
She genuinely never considered that wealthier kids might have an easy time on this front...while poor kids would be too trying to catch up to the private school kids to go out drinking partying every night. Just clueless -- life long educator -- no clue why some might have an easier time on work than others...
She was working 2 jobs...scarce university professorships at both the community college and the university -- thereby taking 2 different jobs someone worth a shit could have had instead. Sometimes I get the impression she didn't understand the text we were reading.
Boomers treated the government like it was there for them and only them. They show little regard for any other generation besides themselves...they made more cash so now they want tax cuts, they start retiring now they want better drug prices and benefits.
I went to buy some CBD oil yesterday...the cashier apologize that --by law-- dispensaries have to make you leave with it in a child save bag...that costs $1.50...I was bitching about this to a boomer, the response was favorable for the law, the bureaucracy making these pointless laws, and me paying $1.50 to protect the environment better than if the store paid for it...
you know what also helps the environment? not making stupid laws that everyone needs a fucking plastic bag every visit, and not pumping out so many kids if you can't make sure their not getting in your drugs! My generation gets it...its just WOOOOSH to a boomer...
Money has just been there for them..that's the impression i get. We all pay a little for a stupid law to make those bureaucrats feel important.
Boomers are by far the worst offenders when it comes to raising kids to make themselves feel better....no one told them that's immoral I guess.* It should be fucking obvious...no other generation did this en masse. That's what this protest shit is like in the media...the media like filming their own elite kids to reflect positively on them. Because identity politics was the issue of their day, and not our day, this is perverted and desperate. We don't need a big mass protest movement for identity politics....that was them. Again, boomer ego just couldn't accept this until finally they started to suffer...now their bitching more.
* this goes for all the bullshit cheering on single motherhood, praising parents pulling their kids out of school and way they raised Millennials to be happy in the short term (self-esteem movement). All the digital neglect....it was because they didn't want to admit they were shit parents. Or admit that shit parents have a negative impact on their kids life. That was just too hard for generation mid-life crisis to handle. They had shit to do, and it surely wasn't parenting.
