It's annoying as hell.
Also... I prefer to solo my cleric... Only grouping when absolutely necessary...

As a cleric levelling up, with LFG on almost exclusively and never anon, I got maybe 1 to 2 tells a day.

As a 60 cleric with LFG on and never anon or roleplay excepting raids, I get 1 to 2 tells a day max. Infact I've had more group invites on my low 20's wizard than motec ever did for the first 50 levels.

Those are rangers wearing plate-looking armor trying to get groups.

When you put it that way it makes sense.

Not that it really matters, just deciding you want to be anon is a plenty good reason to be anon in my humble opinion.

I find your annoyance at the effects of /anon understandable - though on the other hand I think there are valid reasons to be anon. The thing that annoys me about the whole anon thing is that doing a /who all <zone name> does not show anonymous players. I understand that this is the way it was in classic however, and that is the theme of the server, so just got to accept.

What I don't find understandable is your attitude towards camping. If you want certain things you are going to have to camp them. If you don't want them enough to camp them, then fiine - for YOU. But other players might, and you imply with your statements that this is somehow perplexing or unusual. It is you who are unusual in this regard - particularly when you say that you would blame yourself for the inappropriate actions of another player. That's just nuts.

Good point ^^

Anon is for *censored*. Roleplay is acceptable. Anon is just bullshit. And even roleplay is usually not needed. The raiding guilds will know where the competition is regardless. And we others really don't give a flying f*ck what wannabe-elitists are raiding ^^

Well having everybody anon and having one person anon letting the other team know where you are can very well be the few minutes head start you need to make it an easy win. Its very useful for that purpose, especially if multiple mobs are ready to pop! Im sad you don't care what I'm doing =( I crave attention! :p

I play a level 41 druid who's never been anon. I get at most one tell every couple of hours about porting, and that usually from people in the same zone. Far from overwhelming. I think a lot of players here are just so scared of confrontation - what's so bad about typing "/r sorry, can't", or if you're obviously raiding in plane of sky or something, just not replying?

Focus is key in EQ since it takes so *!#$!@#$@! long to accomplish anything compared to other mmos. If I can exclude a few distracting tells by going anon, so be it.

I often get 30-40 tells in an evening for ports and 20 or more tells in the day time.
And no i don't advertise OOC.
During the day on weekends it's much more.

I don't go anon at all,but if someone else wants to that is their business.
There sure are a lot of people here who claim to love classic EQ, except for all the details of classic EQ.
