Ranger here, love him, honestly haven't had any issues grouping and am 46 now. Just get your DPS up and groups like you just fine, and 1/2 the time I slum it as a crappy tank.

I have a Level 15 Ranger right now. It's a class I enjoy, I like having access to Dual Wield, Double Attack and Kick all in one without the weight or armor limitations of being a Monk. What the hell? Why all the hate for hybrids? I thought MMOs were about having fun. Yeah some classes might be a bit better than others, but so what. Having fun means playing what you want to play, not being forced to settle for a class you DON'T want to play because it's statistically better than one you do want...

Fun for me is not dealing with someone's 40% EXP penalty when i could take a rogue of the same level who has their epic and does 10x the damage.

Maybe you should read up on the math behind experience modifiers while grouped.

Is this kind of hate still going to exist for Rangers in Velious when EXP penalties are gone?

When I play a Healer class, Cleric, Shaman I HATE Rangers. They always have agro on them and it is hard to get it off them. So they end up being a damn mana drain to healers as they are a paper tank compared to a Warrior.

And in Velious the fights last a LOT longer so it is even worse. I hope that me, as a healer, in a group, see them running around fearing animals and stay far away from me. :( THey will still be a Solo class in Velious trust me.

Rangers who gear towards tanking, as opposed to full STR for DPS, can be decent tanks.

Hell of a lot better than warriors since their aggro is superb. Especially pre-60.

Ranger is one of the best group tank classes since they can harmony outdoors like Unrest, Mistmoore, CoM, and KC (very typical level up path). Making them great pullers as well.

I love rangers. Before kunark opened on P1999 I use to duo with a ranger on my shaman all the time from 30-50 - we once held down windows and most of royals in solb - I had a great time with him.
Granted a lot has changed since kunark opened, but just know there are people who don't care about such things; hell look at my old p1999 screenshots in my sig, im in a solb b group with nothing but hybrids and guess what? I don't remember having moderately slower exp ( we killed really fast anyways ), I remember having fun with some cool people.

I don't group with hybrids they sap too much xp.

They also think they're better than everybody!

I don't think I'm better than anyone. But I'm also not going to deny someone a group spot simply because of the class they chose. That sort of attitude is toxic to the community.
