bolting tru walls only work on PCs and not npcs.
something is obviously wrong |
So the line of sight rules on this server in pvp are from VZTZ pretty much directly, here is how they are intended to work and how to test them:
how it works: initial cast requires line of sight, but if line of sight is disrupted at the end of a cast, the range is reduced between 35-75% depending on skill with the spell in question. how to test: start casting a spell at the corner of a wall and have your target move just outside of line of sight but as close as possible. If its not working as described above then something is wrong and ill fix it, but I think this might be a case of expectations not being correct and not working code. |
You shouldn't be able to bolt through a wall at all. This isn't about casting range. Bolts should connect to the wall and disappear.
People bolting through walls are exploiting, period. |

Thats the problem, mage bolts do not need this. Well there is a secondary problem in that mage bolts have a better mana ratio and higher damage then the other mage nukes and the feature that was implemented to keep them in balance, bolt disruption on geometry and/or other pcs and npcs, dosent exist here. |
Bolts also landed twice when cast from a higher z-axis position than your target.
If you're going to allow exploiting line of sight/nuking through walls, you need to allow this classic mechanic that was always used and for as long as I remember, never punished for. (Never heard of it in the mage community even once) Mostly being facetious about allowing a bug back in, but it IS classic.(whereas the bolting through walls is not) If it isn't a simple fix it would be FAR easier to just revert the change that was made to give it the firework graphic/delay/bug and make it land instantly but add a 1.5sec cast time to it. (or a different number you can tweak for balancing) |
They do not need line of sight to start the spell but ONLY for PCs, you cannot start your bolt on a NPC without line of sight.
Does it need to be clearer than this? |
