Paladins can do some interesting raid target engages, are now the only class with soulfire, have some good buffs, have useful group heals, can tank most things, when they do tank they get aggro instantly, get raid weapons for cheap, can actually solo some cool targets through infinite self heals and can self rez if they fail. There's a reason the top guilds have some paladins.

For downsides, the solo QoL features like self-invis, feign death, sow, lev, etc are low. You have to paci and root around or use clickies, but it's totally doable. The DPS is also pretty bad. This is why they are not popular as twinks. Low skill floor, but high skill ceiling.

Next melee I make will be a paladin for sure.
