I disagree. Players shouldn't need grind many hours simply to unlock game balance features that a responsible game studio could easily patch straight in. That particular use of Alternate Advance merely demonstrated the growing contempt Sony had for its own customer base. It took a few years, but eventually that attitude bit 'em in the rear once a viable alternative to EQ manifested itself.

That being said, I've always thought Luclin had some decent ideas marred by incompetent execution. There's good in there, I think, buried underneath the mountain of garbage. I've never seen sufficient interest from any party, however, in making any effort at fixing things. Generally speaking people either want to stop at Velious (and I'm fine with P99 remaining stopped there) or regard Luclin as effectively speedbump to pass on the way to Planes of Power. I've never seen anyone who wants to stop at Luclin.

beastlords, AA's, class/race combos, level cap increase and new spells all are appealing... luclin sucked because the zones were either half ass done or never full completed, the lore was incomplete, and a lot of things just didn't work right at all... plus the new models were terrible!

Original bazaar was sick! Good layout, fun to hang out between events. Small arena for PVP was a haven for gun toting tough guys. Luclin would be a welcomed change.
