The real question is why do you want the necro epic? It's a giant "fuck you" from Verant, both in how difficult it is to get and how terrible it looks/is. The snare effect was broken for over a year (it had a chance to resist each tick).

I wasn't really familiar with these epic alternatives. In learning how difficult the epic is to attain, I have realized that my end game will consist of pursuing one of these less cumbersome options. Thanks to everyone who replied.

Come now, it looks like a skull of a dragon from the Atari game "Adventure." That makes it perhaps the best looking epic in Everquest.
