is a magician really complaining about their leveling experience?

well, actually, doing 1 point of damage to a mob is more annoying than it sounds. Its ok if there is one mob, but when you start to fight multiple mobs it can get hairy. Say your pet pulls 4-5 things, this means you have to cycle each target and cast the spell a few times. But its hard to tell whether you cycled all of them or not if they are right on top of eachother. Additionally, the pet could only be hitting one mob, so that little 4 damage nuke can pull agro off your pet and send the mobs on you, and then you are pretty screwed. When I fight multiple mobs I find myself standing for near the entirety of the fight rather than sitting which I could have been doing. Surprisingly it can make leveling quite a bit less efficient than it could be, but its still way more efficient than most classes, and curbs afk leveling a bit which was their intention.

Using up one of the 8 spell slots is not a big deal cause I mean c'mon what are you casting... your an effing mage. You got DD and well DD.

Don't forget Eye of Zomm. It finds itself a nice spot on spell gem 5 for what I like to call Magician Tracking.

Pretty much everything nalkin said. When pulling more than one mob it gets really confusing and also dangerous. Forgetting to nuke at all is also frustrating.

If a mechanic is implemented where healing the pet counts the same then it would be much easier in these situations.

In some situations, post-44 when your pet quads without weapons it becomes more efficient to let pet fight to 10% without heals then reclaim energy and summon a new one. Heal becomes useful very rarely post-44.

How do you reclaim and resummon without getting pounded?

Kraftwerk 05-25-2010 06:48 PM

In between pulls.

I always imagined I was getting more exp when I nuked once. But it could also be my imagination. As I said earlier, I use most of my mana on healing instead of nuking. I'm a magician, not a wizard.

Pro tip, you can summon throwing weapons.

Use them...

After 44, you really hardly ever heal anymore, chain casting is much more mana efficient. Treat your pet as a DoT instead of a pet. You let him fight till 10% then start casting new pet, right before done casting you tell the current one to get lost. 200 mana for brand new pet or 100 mana for 150hp heal.....

I suppose I should probably have noticed if this happened but my necro was so gd easy to level it really didn't matter.
