I took DE and dumped all 20 points into int on my SK. I prefer to have the larger mana pool later on.

Does the greenmist quest work here? I always thought that sword was badass.

DE Pros: Look cool.
DE Cons: 70 strength base, Nek Forest sucks for leveling, SK guild location is a unique challenge to find if you're not experienced, need a shield to bash.

Iksar SK Pros: Nice regen, awesome starting areas for leveling.
Iksar SK Cons: 68% penalty will make you hate life at high levels, need a shield to bash, most NPCs go ballistic when you roll up on them.

Troll SK Pros: Nice regen, slam with 2h weapons.
Troll SK Cons: 68%.

Ogre SK Pros: 140 strength base (hardcore strong), slam with 2h weapons.
Ogre SK Cons: 61%, The Feerott sucks for leveling.

For Iksar SK, you left out the fact that they have an innate bonus to AC, which is compenstated for in Kunark by denying Iksar the ability to wear most high AC armor. This restriction is removed in Velious drops. Thus if you level an Iksar SK now, come velious, you will theoretically be in a good position.

AC does not compensate for that...

AND- WHY PAY A RACIAL EXP PENALTY IF IT BALANCES OUT?!? The devs fucked up... they were prolly too lazy to update the existing race tables for all the armor (or there wasn't an easy way at the time) so they simply boiled it down to "balance" when asked.

PS: Why else are some random pieces of plate, such as crested mistmoore shoulders and PoSky tests iksar usable and others not? Why do classes like Monks have planar armor where the AC difference will be more noticable?

I do not fail to realize that the innate AC bonus granted by the Iksar racial is insufficient to cover the inability to wear most of the good SK pieces that drop prior to velious. I did not mean to imply that, if I did, then my bad. I was merely trying to relay what SOE's thinking was when it created that equipment so that Iksar could not wear it.

I agree that in Kunark, the innate AC bonus (which is difficult to verify since AC reporting is screwed up on the Titanium client for us) is not enough compensation for the lack of being able to wear that nice gear. The point I did intend to make is that come Velious, the armor drops no longer have this across the board Iksar exclusion. Ergo, theoretically, since Velious gear should by and large be equal or better to Kunrk, an Iksar SK might just come out ahead in the end, justifying the choice of race.

In regard to your assertion that the SOE devs "fucked up" on the Kunark armor for SK - I would have to agree, since they corrected this in Velious. However, the devs here cannot address that without intentionally diverging from the classic timeline. That of course is a slippery slope, so better to avoid stepping foot on it at all.

Go with iskar, yea you have heard of the experience difference, but because Field of Bone is a great place for a newbie zone, and with Kurns right in it, you will find people to group with alot easier. Plus Kunark is packed.
