Pat Metheny doing the First Circle Album in 84. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any good tracks on you-tube. The light show was minimalistic but amazing.

my favorite band right now. the show was amazing, the video does no justice though because you can't hear the orchestra really.

Saw the Decemberists accompanied by the LA phil in 2007. That shit was amazing.

Also saw Victor Wooten live. This guy is incredibblleee. (I'm a bass player so I'm biased but even so...)

One band I always will regret not going to see is pantera though! Iced Earth is cool too but always playing real small venues so hard to get tickets.

LCD Soundsystem. Any other answer is wrong.

As far as best live experience, I'd say A Fire Inside (AFI).

right on! I've been wanting to go to another of those orchestra-backed performances, they're so goosebump-inducing i lauve it.

The three other best shows I been to:

The Flaming Lips @ The Fox Theatre (these guys put on a great show)

The Dead @ Shoreline Ampitheatre (Grateful Dead less Jerry [rip] plus Warren Haynes (awesome guitarist of Allman Brothers fame))

Bonobo @ I don't even fucking remember (awesome chillout DJ/producer who sometimes tours with musicians and plays his stuff life)

Best bands I've heard live.

The Receiving End of Sirens
Circa Survive
Envy on the Coast
Mozart Season
The Sleeping
The Dear Hunter
Trophy Scars

However, this is my own taste of music. I am not going to say my opinion is absolute because that's pretty annoying.
