Yeah but what if you steal an apple every day for 20 years? That's a much bigger monetary loss than a single xbox.

The price of Apples being ridiculous doesn't justify 20 years. It should be more like 200 years mandatory orchard duty. <--- this is an abstract about the value and rarity of apples. Substitute bug loafs where applicable. It's a case where doing the crime is as bad as doing the time.
