P.S. You should try creating a character here. It's a whole lot more fun than a MMOG created in 1999 has any right to be and ... we have cookies!

Live eq said it's cool to play here. :)

OP should totally make some awesome recognizable guides.

Well, I am taking into consideration P99 when I write the guides. Daybreak hasn't revamped the zones, changed quests or layouts or even changed mob drops. The only major changes are probably how the game plays (which wouldn't play a large factor in the guide writing department unless I started to try and teach people how to play).

I've recently finished by Skyshrine Class Armor as well as my Kael Drakkel Class Armor guides. They expand on a lot of the information P99's wiki left out and have a more picture oriented easy to read format.

I have also *almost* completed my Kael Drakkel zone guide which goes over many different parts of the zone and what you can expect to find there. I'm going to do similar for Crystal Caverns and Tower of Frozen Shadow.

Then I think I may cover some more quests. There's this bracer with Affliction Haste(I think haste?) III on it that starts in Velious. Coldain Militia Wristguard something or other. I was thinking of covering quests like that.

Also sorry for the delayed responses, it seems that my posts still have to be approved by a mod.

You uhh, might want to actually play before trying to write any guides. :o

Hiya, fellow guide writer! I salute your efforts :) It's hard to keep track of the different versions of EQ out there so good luck!

A few people have mentioned the wiki. It's not always correct but it's good to check on an item's stats, which are typically accurate. I quoted this part of your post as an example because you mention a focus effect, which is a mechanic that is not present on p99. Our items do not have focus effects at all. See: https://wiki.project1999.com/Coldain...ary_Wristguard

Anyway! I like tradeskill guides and faction guides myself :) Those are a bit more difficult than, say, zone guides, because tradeskills have gone through numerous revamps and faction is pretty much ignored these days on live. (P99 also has a faction master, Aalderon, who is pretty much the de facto expert for both p99 and live factions.) For tradeskills you'd have to really organize it by expansion/revamp era for the TLP servers. P99 would be similar, but they'd be a different guide because p99 devs don't match how live does progression.

Very interesting I didn't realize you guys lacked focuses! Jeeze! Thanks for letting me know though <3 -- I made this post to learn info just like this =P

Also I totally get what you mean with Tradeskill guides.. even leveling guides I have started to organize "by expansion" due to the TLP craze. I've also had to split the leveling guides in two, before mercenaries and after mercenaries are added to the game.

I actually have Tradeskill guides Classic - PoP on my website and I think HoT - RoF. I'm lacking in that department though and people keep throwing stones at me telling me to write a Tinkering guide which is probably going to happen next after I finish some more Velious zones!

Riiight - cause they're two entirely different games! Lockjaw guides wouldn't be relevant for Firiona Vie and Firionie Vie guides wouldn't be relevent for Phinigel. It's one big mess ahhhh *pulls out hair*

You might actually want to educate yourself on the differences between the servers before trying to be a smart ass! You might actually learn something new ;)

P.S - Playing on P99 and trying to write guides for that server would be a massive detriment to the guide writing process (since people have asked me to play on the server more than once here I figured I would answer). Trying to ask a raid full of people to 'hold up' as you document a location or experiment for your guide isn't something I really like doing or even feel comfortable doing. Since you guys don't allow boxing that's a major issue for any guide that can't be solo'd. It's also the primary reason I box on live. 90% of the time I am playing it's usually researching or writing a guide. Oddly enough (i guess) that's just how I enjoy playing the game.

I realize my guides won't entirely be relevant for P99 and that's why I am here asking for advice figuring out what the differences are. I want to do my best to make sure that the guides work on both live servers and P99. Learning the little things like the Coldain Wristguard not having a focus on p99 is really helpful and probably something I wouldn't have realized myself unless someone pointed it out to me.

OK. :o

That zone is going to release on P99 some time this year probably and P99 fatcats want to know which named mob to sit on to sell the drops.

Hoarding all this information for myself.

None of the eq severs out there compare to p99. Should just full commit to playing here and writing up guides making the wiki even more badass.
