Good pet dps is still good dps, I think mages do okay but I've never found the desire to play one properly (was always a wizard on live, some lines you just don't cross)...very much in demand for CotH ducking in the raid scene ;)

If you are a good enchanter than you are gods gift to groups.

Never had a bad time with mages on live, even the bad ones do ok.

Bad enchanters though, are very noticeable.

Sounds like you're gonna have some fun, especially with the gear you already have.

Solo enchanter is a blast - there's always somewhere new to explore and challenge yourself. Velious: yeah, there are giants and dragons that enchanters are pretty gimped by, but I wouldn't say that mages > enchanters end-game. Better how? Both are important to raiding, and chanters are probably better in any setting where you can still mez/charm. Mages have always sounded a little boring to me, but that's a personal preference so it's hardly worth stating.
