Use a crossbow, stun gun, pepper spray, or a dog for self defense in your home. Bows are for hunting/fun.

Not sure on that bow. You can get up to 65 lb draw tho so you can hunt just about anything you could with a compound.

I really enjoy archery, never done any hunting but spent quite a bit of time shooting :). Compound bows aren't as fun to shoot but the shear power is absurd as a ratio to pull weight.

I've only done bird hunting with my bows. Not a big fan of big game hunting as I prefer beef.

But you are right, traditional is much more fun imo

35 lb is overkill if your a good marks woman the native american's didn't have insanely powerful bows. 40 lb probably will satisfy legalities. that being said... i like old fashioned stuff. the new crazy composite stuff was not very satisfying to me
