This 100%. It's painful watching all these new bards butcher the bard terms we actually used back on live.

Yeah, cause building a large group of mobs...a swarm and then AEing it down and using an incorrect term you all made up is soooooo fucking painful.

Get a life.

Swarm kiting was getting a handful of social NPCs (like 6), charming one and sending it at one of the others. They would all swarm your charmed friend, taking its hp down quickly.

You guys are all talking about AE kiting, which is entirely different. If you're gonna hop on the bard bandwagon now that you know how cool the class is, you might as well use the right words for things.

Ugrask 03-17-2014 11:48 AM

I know what the difference is. Still doesn't fucking matter is the point. You still have a swarm of mobs, so people just call it that.

If you get hot and bothered over made up terms...refer to my previous statement.

Yea. I feel like every time the term "swarm kiting" gets used, someone, usually Faerie has to come in and correct us all. We get it, its not what swarm kiting was on live. However, AE kiting as you like to call it is much more appropriately named here on P99 than it was on live since there is a significantly larger amount of mobs, you know, like a swarm of them?

Faerie 03-17-2014 02:17 PM

It's a serious pet peeve of mine. You guys should respect the bards that came before you and not butcher these terms :P

Ugrask 03-17-2014 02:27 PM

It's ridiculous. Why isn't it charm kiting instead? Or a totally different term, Because People 15 years ago said so and its set in stone? Yeah okay. Get your ass back to the 1950s where things aren't supposed to ever change.

Again, it's a game, get a life and stop jumping into threads with people asking for help to correct their terminology and offer nothing else. Or take some medication for this pet peeve of yours.

You should respect the people who spoke English (long) before you and not butcher their words.

Faerie 03-19-2014 02:50 PM

That's another thing. When a word like "literally" is allowed to mean the exact opposite of what it actually means, the people suffer. Language has a hard enough time doing its job as things are, and it's only getting worse :(

Ugrask 03-19-2014 03:05 PM

Respect is earned not deserved because of some make believe superiority complex and pet peeves. Jump down peoples throat for a made up term constantly and you get none. And terms in a video game does not constitute English, so move on before adding in your unwanted two cents. And considering I've been playing this game since 1999, I'm not new and can claim my server called it that, which would make me just as valid.

swarm1 [swawrm] Show IPA
noun
1.
a body of honeybees that emigrate from a hive and fly off together, accompanied by a queen, to start a new colony.
2.
a body of bees settled together, as in a hive.
3.
a great number of things or persons, especially in motion.

Oh man look at definition three, the exact thing that Bard AE kiting is....Whats that? English proven. Exactly.
