It's true the announcement of Teams99 has really ended this server's midrange population. If you're max leveled and geared it makes sense you would stick around, if you're a true new player learning the server's unique systems, balance, mechanics is still reasonable. If you're a 52-59 player getting trak toothed daily the prospect of grinding here seems to have lost it's shine.

Sad.

Especially w/o a timeline, T99 is unlikely, (in my opinion), to be released before 2014. Basically 5 months of pure-safe-farming is now available to Nihilum. Server Population #'s do not reflect what similar #'s displayed 3 months ago, either. Most of the 52-59 range 'newer' players have rerolled to lvl 20-45 pvp twinks to just screw around. Ironically this hurts the server, twice, because this influx of geared pvpers probably does not help any incoming truly new players.

It's always hard to tell whether or not that is a another forethought on this server. The original Beta was 6 weeks yet nothing really got changed or implemented from it's time. Beta was a terrible troll in the end because it wasn't used as a 'beta' it was used a worthless battleground with the same concept as the released server. The sad truth was that the beta went too long. Days 1-7 had 150 pop. Days 8-45 had ~32.

Announcing a timeline for T99 at this point cant do anything but help R99's interim population.

This server makes zero sense to me, immersion rate all type low.

I partly agree. R99 has been shot in the gut and without immediate attention it will bleed out and die. The Devs / GMs need to clarify what exactly is going on, preferably in the form of an official post advertised by the GM MOTD in game, and not chatting with individual players in TS channels. Consistent updates would also be extremely appreciated, preferably weekly, and could be structure in the form of posing topics for discussion. For example, one week the staff could ask for suggestions on teams, the next on whether or not teams should be hardcoded, followed by PvP level ranges, etc. Regardless we need to know whats going on!

All that being said, the sad thing is I don't believe that the new server will really "fix" anything.

Not to derail the thread, but I have repeatedly seen four* widely circulated reasons as to why R99 has "failed:"

1) Skewed resists and buggy PvP

2) Nihilum's domination

3) The Players

4) GM corruption / favoritism (not saying I agree, just that others have said it)

* There are others (e.g., exploits at server launch), but they are not as widely accepted.

So my question is, will anything really change with the introduction of a new server?

I know there is a new PvP Dev incoming, so #1 will likely change, but that is not dependent on the new server. Of course a new server does reset the playing field guild wise, but if Nihilum's domination is driving the development of a new server, doesn't that just make this an exercise in "guild busting?" In addition, how / why would a teams ruleset prevent Nihilum or another guild from becoming dominate on the new server?

As for reason #3, well, I think y'all know better then me who will be playing on the new box, their motivations for doing so, and how long they will stick around. Just a guess, but I foresee griefing of opposing teams (especially of players from the blue server) as a major pastime for some. This will continue until the server population crashes from a combination of toxic players and the fading of the new server smell.

Finally, reason #4; if you legitimately think GM corruption is the reason R99 is not doing well, then why would a new server run by the same people be any different?

TL;DR - IMO Devs / GMs need to step in ASAP and Teams99 will suffer the same fate as R99.

Every box you have brought up results in you making GM played characters and handing out gear to your "Salty" friends... No ones gonna play that shit quit posting about it.
