You both realize Ricky Gervais who created the UK show was a head writer/co creator of the American version. I'd hardly call that "stealing" and that's comical you call the US shit compared to the UK version with the same writer.

When I say "stealing" I meant the majority of plot lines/jokes/etc. were copied directly from the UK version of the show. When they started branching out and doing their own thing in Season 2, the show got much better.

Having watched both, I completely disagree. The first season of the US Office definitely stole almost exclusively from the UK version, but in seasons 2 and 3 it developed into a unique show that was very entertaining. Unfortunately they couldn't sustain that for long.

Actually never watched past first season, but i'm biased towards Ricky Gervais and if he's not in it i ain't watching that shit son

I know what you meant, that's why I was saying it was Ricky Gervais writing the same stuff to introduce the US to the comedy since most of the US hadn't seen the UK version.
I do agree, after the first season the show really hit its stride. While it wasn't as good later on as it once was, I still enjoyed it and they had some funny parts up through the last episode. It was a very well written and clever show. Luckily, there is still Parks and Rec to watch.

At least you're open minded

The first few seasons were funny, then they started trying to make this deep love story between pam and jim...okay whatever. Then they get rid of steve carrell and it was only the pam and jim love story....

went from a decent comedy into a love drama, this is why the rest of the world hates america. We take their good tv shows and RUIN THEM!

I don't see anything wrong with the love story. It was a theme of the series from the first episode, why wouldn't they elaborate on it. Guy wants girl he can't have, guy gets girl, guy marries girl.

The UK Office had 15 episodes, I don't know how so many people are claiming it was so much better. I guess the US went for 201 Episodes because it was a shit series. And America didn't take this show, the same creator of the UK show brought it here. So you can blame the same creator of both shows for ruining it I guess.

Gervais proly made more money in the US. Kudos to him, and I like his other work. Office just wasn't able to sit and follow. Reno 911 anyone?
