The only thing I'm going to say is that it's not hard to doctor up logs. As you can see this says staff of dread gaze and the others are deadwood staves...

I really appreciate the fact that someone is willing to go through all the trouble of not only editing the logs but fails to edit the rest of the log.

The nerd makes a post to buy a dreaded gaze staff, has remorse over the situation moments later, and says "fuck it" and goes to the dungeon to just get one. In his mind he's planning what to do if it's camped, and its to assert that he's after Deadwood Staves instead of the real target.

But he's nervous, excited, and still feeling that 'poster's remorse' from the EC forum post and he pulls a Homer Simpson when he's put to the test. He goes to explain that he's just after Deadwood Staves, but what comes out from the keyboard is the exact thing he's agonizing over instead. The comedy value is legit.
