Ports cost 300 mana.

C2 allows you to port up to 12 more times than if you didn't have C2 in that 35 minute period.

If anything, the porter should split the next ~10 port tips with the enc that was nice enough to throw C2 on them

Really? Sorry to here that. I’ve been doing my usual 75p.

I TL from Ot and I never ask for tip and always cast as soon as in group. But I know who dosnt tip...

I usually tip upon landing, so I have made the mistake of not tipping before a TL in the past.

To be fair though, it wasn't to my bind point. I figured it was a traditional port.

Clarity is a courtesy, just like SoW is when you get your port. If you ask if C is fine as a tip and the porter says cool, then cool. Otherwise, it is generally understood that people are advertising porting services in exchange for platinum pieces.

It isn't about comparing the cost of the port spell with your spell. You are paying for a service that saves you from taking the time of running or waiting for a boat.

What's generally understood is that people advertising porting services without naming a price are doing so for tips. What's also generally understood is that tips are not guaranteed, and it is entirely up to the tipper to determine what, if anything, is paid. If you want to do a thing and make sure you get money for it, you need to communicate that beforehand, or do something where money is guaranteed, e.g. get a real job, you fucking hippie.

Disagree. Status quo = platinum in exhange for service provided. If you don't have any money (CR port, broke, noob, whatever) the portee should check if it's ok with the porter, not assume a free ride. Though DaP does provide garunteed free CR ports if members have their tag up. I port people for free all the time if they are up front about it.

People get blacklisted from porters for that crap, so sure, you can do it, but you are limiting your future porting options by getting on the ignore list of active porters. People in DaP guild chat communicate it to others when people are asshats or stiff them.

This ^

I don't have anyone on my ignore list, and there is no DaP blacklist, despite what anyone may tell you. However, above poster is 100% correct that many DaP members use their /ignore feature for shitty people. If you start off at level 1 assuming that your transportation is free and guaranteed and paying is optional, your ass may be riding the boat later on.

This is why threads like this that are full of misinformation are not fantastic for the new player who might not understand what is expected.
