Patch Notes
July 24, 2002
Fixed a bug with bolt spells that caused double hits due
to elevation. Sorry Mages.

Looks like if you cast bolt at something from above it should hit twice.

I'm interested in the "Your burnt wood staff begins to glow" text! Does that happen here? Was that for all clickies!?

It does not currently display this message. I just tried it on my mage. I'll need to look for some additional screenshots and posts to confirm if it was for all clickies or just certain ones.

It would be possible that I would get a bit of a lore-induced boner if that message got put in.

Bolts not working correctly is an issue within the source. It has been looked at several times and, yeah, that one ain't easy. IIRC, they treated it like spawning an NPC, and since the spell graphics aren't completely classic they aren't tying together correctly or bacon or something.

Glow messages though.

[Thu Jun 15 18:11:37 2000] Your Donal's Vambraces of Mourning begins to glow.
[Thu Jun 15 18:11:49 2000] You feel valorous.

Will try to take a look.

You need to revert bolts back to just hitting instantly until you guys fix the problem with the "bolt" graphic/mechanic. While it was cool initially to get some semblance of the "bolt" portion back, its utility has severely suffered.

Little steps...

Over my paygrade. I have a sneaking suspicion that the spell graphic work is going to help kick this back down the road.

What's the spell graphic work you're talking about?

By the way I have $50 for your name on it when you fix it!! :D

Double bolting was a huge aspect of playing the magician class, and to a lesser extent, wizard. I'd really love to see bolt spells functional. They're currently operating to a certain extent, and shouldn't need too much tweaking. Simulating the "double" effect would be rather simplistic by just performing an axis check on the target and character.
