Old SZ playing going to try Red99

Hey guys,

Thought i'd drop in and say hello. Going to play on red99 probably pretty casual but who knows. Have not decided on what class im going with and any advice would help. So far i was thinking Bard (solo ability) or monk. I'd consider any of the melee classes, even a ranger. Any tips starting out?

Well, looks like its going to be mainly just me so a solo friendly class is essential. That's why i was thinking Bard for mobility and soloing. I prefer to play a melee class, maybe not a SK because i'm not sure i could handle the huge exp penalty.

Bard is strong you should never die and are strong in group PvP, just don't expect anything but solo kiting up to 60

You can have fun with all casters. Enchanters are obviously really powerful as far as PvE goes and it's a toss up in PvP. They can be real easy targets and if played against right it will be a challenge for you being the Enchanter 1v1. A lot more people on this box use things like crimson pots that you didn't see on live much.

People say wizards are overpowered right now because resists aren't the same as classic. People beef up on MR because you need so much so there really isn't much room for the amount of FR and CR you need to shield you from wizard DD. Partial resists aren't up to par here. Melee also have a tough time hitting people not on the same plane, so if you are levitating you have an advantage over melee.

Yes in open areas it is a big deal, in dungeons where melees shine not so much. You gotta get your peggy cloak and try to chase them around outside, can't hit from below.

Yea it's mostly all posturing and drama.

My guild is better than your guild, heartbrand did THIS today, and people that don't even play on the server anymore talking about vague recollections of that one time they SWORE a particular npc did a certain thing.

I'm guilty of it too. But a newcomer (and most sane people) would look at this cesspool of a forums and say 'i aint got time for dat' and not play on the server.

I wonder if z-axis is being taken into account for both melee and spell range. I know it is for spell range.

This might be a little off topic but can Iksars ever use Invis/FD to buy spells outside of cabilis?

Regen, forge food, noob starting quests and kurns tower are all pretty good reasons to make an Iksar.

Well, want to thank everyone that's helped me out so far. Won't mention any names but people have been good to me. So far ive been in a group ever since lvl 12 and the server feels a lot more rewarding then blue. Just a few shout outs to people on the server.

Advice from people on forums and in game. A++

The enchanter that kept giving me C2 when i was lvl 8 ish was really cool.

Necro gave me a kick a$$ ring, props.

Druid and Cleric buffs A++

Druid not only gave me the lvl 24 necro pet but also farmed the Oracle robe for me.
