Hello.

I am currently experiencing error 1017. I've rummaged through every post relating to 1017 and it appears there are many different responsible issues.

The following is true:

I have connected to the project1999 servers through this PC on many different home connections (wireless and direct). My computer is completely up-to-date driver wise from MOBO drivers, graphics and sound card drivers, EQp99 related files. The entire spectrum. I have done no overclocking to my pc whatsoever.

I am now connected to the internet via tethering with my Galaxy S3 via metroPCS.

I've gone through my EQ log and my connection is being "refused". This leads me to believe I am unable to log in due to playing via cell tether atm...

Due to how dual accounts work on p99, I imagine the server might have a block on tethered IP's for this reason. Do any readers out there have any experience with playing via a tethered connection? If yours works, who is your provider?

Thanks for your time & help.

I think that people can play with tethered connections, pretty sure i've heard people talking about it before but not positive. It may very well be your particular service provider, or some setting you/they/p99 has set.

Whats your cell SP? Can you connect on another PC using the tethered connection? Can you connect on this PC while using a traditional wireless or wired connection (this would help a lot if you can try it)?

Someone in my guild tethers.

I'll ask him next time he is on. If I had understood this question prior, he was on last night to ask.

I didn't understand tethering .... he said he played through his cell phone. I pictured him playing EQ on a 5" x 3" screen. (Not really...but really)

From my quick research regarding this I would need some more info.

What processor are you running? Are you running EQ in single core mode or multicore mode? Are you using EQEmuLauncher or are you patching the directory manually? Win 7 or Linux/wine combo?

Provider is MetroPCS on a 4g connection speed. Have it directly tethered atm and it's still giving me issues on connecting to the server. Earlier I was attempting at a wireless connection via hotspot from my phone.

I've gone through the log and the following is what I'm getting...

2013-02-13 19:49:31 Networking: Connection Established [1]
2013-02-13 19:49:31 WorldAuthenticate: Initiating Login.
2013-02-13 19:49:32 WorldAuthenticate: connection lost during authentication.

2013-02-13 19:49:33 Networking: Connection Established [2]
2013-02-13 19:49:33 WorldAuthenticate: Initiating Login.
2013-02-13 19:50:02 Networking: Connection Closed [1] with 0 pending bytes.
2013-02-13 19:50:02 *** ERROR: WorldAuthenticate. My message arrival was NULL, the net has been shutdown.

Do you guys think it's something on MetroPCS's end that's causing the problem? I am also having issues with other games so I believe it may be...but I'll do more digging and wait for more replies prior to calling them.

I'm clutching at straws but keen to put some thought into this :p

Have you opened your "Network and Sharing Center" and checked there's a decent connection running through it?

Go to www.speedtest.net and see if you're getting a decent ping/speed while tethered? Does your provider cap your usage per month?

Lastly, and I don't want to be "that guy"...but are you trying to run 2 accounts at once?

I can certainly say no to your final question. I have two accounts here but have never had the desire to abuse server rules. I enjoy playing the game the classic way and with that being said, no dual boxing.

I do have a data cap of 4g LTE speeds but once that is exceeded (2.5 gb) I drop down to 3g which is still enough to game with.

Thanks for the insight

Download and try with PDANET using USB tether.
