Hey, just stumbled across the site and am in the process of acquiring a copy of titanium.
Played EQ from launch through velious and a bit of planes of power. Played on Tunare server as a war through velious then used a friends necro of and on in planes of power.
I would imagine this gets asks a lot but are there certain classes in higher demand than others on the pve server? I am learning towards rolling a healer, either a dwarf cleric or possibly a shaman but given how big of a PITA it is to level healers in EQ I wanted to know if they are needed and if there are actually low level people to group with.
Thanks, looking forward to getting into it.

if you roll the dwarf cleric and run over to kelethin you will have no trouble finding groups. and theres alot of low level players. thats what people do when they get to 60, they just make a new char and enjoy the journey allover again. unless you are one of those raiding guys who wants to make insane amounts of plats and loot

There are plenty of low levels to group with. I'm not to the higher levels yet myself, but it seems like shamans are everywhere. There's a reason for that, though. It's one of the most solid classes during these eras.
I don't think anybody would ever say more clerics is a bad thing.

Yea I figured everyone would be a shaman or a monk =P

Pick a class you loved to play and want to play again. If you want to play a particular class but want a change of scenery, try a different race. Be advised, there is a racial and class penalty in place on the server. In general this should not matter because you'll still level up etc but some people get upset about this fact.
Welcome to the server. It's a great place to have fun with great friends!

Welcome to the party, broham.
Here's a thread where some server information was compiled.

You'll see that the server is already pretty shaman heavy if that's a concern of yours. But yeah, dwarf clerics won't have any trouble finding a group in the newbie areas and Crushbone.
Best of luck.

More than that, you'll be loved and sought after - just try to resist the urge to melee unless full mana :p

Thanks, I need to figure out what I want to do, rolled a cleric and a shaman =P
Already remembering how much leveling in EQ sucks ass and why I only did it once originally.

Thanks for info, think I am going to try to stick with dwarf cleric this time. Original char was half elf war so never did the leveling thing on this continent.
Is there typical places people go for groups throughout the low levels? seems like since the pop is lower than a original live eq server everyone would probably follow the same zones together for grouping.

i rolled a dwarf cleric, and i have been having a real bad time to find groups... there's like 1 group going on each continent, and each group only need 1 healer... :D

Yea that is my concern, the lack of solo ability is going to suck vs playing something like a necro.
Do any of the experienced players have any advice on this? I am having healer withdrawl since ffxi years ago and am really wanting to play a cleric but I don't want to be shooting myself in the foot looking for non existant groups or painfully soloing as a healer =P
Any advice on the typical grouping leveling path would be really helpful. I read some of the guides but a lot seemed to be solo oriented or directed towards original eq with a full server. When I played before I almost always went to freeport, ec, north ro, oasis then not sure what was between but then crap like high pass/high hold keep, temple of cazic thule then eventually sol b & lguk..

Thanks!
Man thinking about going to Sol B again makes me happy.. L guk makes me think of dying to low level frogs trying to get there, dying trying to get to groups and sitting lfg for hours on end. =P

Remember this is EQ. There is no dungeon finder insta que easy mode. Any class will spend time looking for group if thats your playstyle. Get to know people, put the good ones on your friends list and ignroe the bads and before you know if you will have people hounding you for groups the instant you log on. It's a good idea to keep /role and /anon off while levelling also so people can search you out for groups.

With a dwarf Cleric hit up Orc Hill in Gfay til about 7 or 8 and then move into CB until you're ready for Unrest.

Trust me I know. It has just been a long time. I broke my mmo teeth on EQ back when I was 13 and trying to lead/Main tank/distribute loot for hate raids by myself.
The aspect I always liked about EQ was the social aspect of learning to play in groups from early on =P
Just needed some advice on how the leveling flow works on this server.

I rolled a cleric and I'm level 18 as of this posting. Most of my mage/necro friends have surpassed me in level due to solo ability but I can usally find a group in the big areas. I stayed in crushbone till around 12, then went to north roe and then oasis. Now at 18 I group in the estate of unrest. The issue with groups there is finding mobs to kill because its a popular powerleveing spot.
I also soloed in befallen and at the chessboard in butcher. The undead direct damage spells you aquire actually do some great damage.
Joining a low level guild can help too with finding groups.

I'm sorry but orc hill was one of the worst pieces of advice I ever got on Live. The ONLY reason to not go straight to CB at L4 is the 3-spawn right outside the zone-in from GFay. Man up and run through them. The pawns in CB are easier than the ones outside, there are more single or double pulls at CB entrance than at orc hill, you don't have to worry about pathers, and you won't get any shaman like you can on the hill. Orc hill is simply worse than the entrance inside CB.
As for a cleric. You are also an amazing solo machine in LGuk. Between harmony, IVU, root, and your top-of-the-line undead nukes, LGuk is yours for the taking from the 30s through the low 50s, solo or with BYOG. Decent loot to be had as well.

lvl 7-12 crushbone/
12-22 unrest/oasis
22-30 mistmoore/highkeep goblins/overthere
30-40 overthere
40-50 Solb/Lguk
replace 12-30 with unrest/mistmoore and you don't have to leave that continent til you are probably 35 then you can do solb/lguk with cheal already.
unrest is a great spot for a cleric even when you can't find groups you can solo the undead mobs and keep the exp moving forward. if you have already started send me a tell on anleus or any char that starts with mav and i'll see if i can help you get started.

Thanks for all the advice, didnt know you could go to guk that early, thought guk and sol B were both 40+ zones. ALso didn't know clerics could solo their way out of a bag of chips so that is interesting to know.
I am already up and running and lvl 5 at orc hill =P

as someone already mentioned you are better off just going to cb and soloing then doing orc hill. singles are easier to get and you don't have to deal with the shamans/oracles. I added you to friends will look for you online.
As for clerics soloing...against undead they are basically wizards.

Cool sounds good, I hit 7 last night anyways so it is CB away.

Don't be afraid to try and start your own group if you find you are not getting a tell for one. Pick up a tank and some dps and you are good to go for almost any outside camp. Add an enchanter and dungeons are then easily available.

Thanks for the tip. Definitely starting to get more into the flow now and remembering how more of the mechanics of the game work. Had to ask someone how to initiate a trade and to see the stats on my own gear but now I think I am good =P
Now I just have to start selling stuff and making money so I can buy gear, running around in my ballin tattered leather/cloth and cracked staff like a champ. Need to get my bronze on.
