Part 3 (Following on from Ghaz's Plight http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9216)

Sainy says, 'I have been watching you on your travels friends. You have uncovered much information. I was right to choose you to walk this path for us. With your scholarly skill you have discovered the many worlds that run adjacent to our own in the many threads of time. This skill you will find useful in the future I am sure. The most interesting item you appeared to have discovered is the merging of luclin with the planet norrath as predicted by Aataltaal's assistant. There was also another similar to her, and she was named Queen Elizerain, for which the lake is named after on Faydwer. Judging from the information you recovered from the future, it appears that the Elves may be aware of Luclin's coming destruction. I suggest you travel to Felwithe and speak with the King and see what he may know on the matter. '

-------------

King Tearis Thex says 'What is the meaning of this call at such a late hour? To address the King of Felwithe is to summon the very empire of the Koada'Dal. Who are you to demand this?'

King Tearis Thex looks at his assistant, seeming somewhat disturbed by the information but then shrugs it off as if nothing.

King Tearis Thex says 'We know nothing of the words you speak. Now be gone from my presence at once.'

--------------

A guard says 'PSST!! The King lies! He knows more than he lets out and is keeping it a secret from the many. The long lost Queen Elizerain spoke often with him on this matter. Fortunately for you, you may be able to seek out a Troll Shaman with a similar skill that frequents the hand that lies in the cursed swamps of norrath. Now go before someone see's me!'

--------------

The troll shaman

The troll looks on you seemingly unphased, as if he knew you were coming.

The troll peers over the fire and removes three small bags from his alchemy pouch. He removes something from the bags and begins to roll them between his palms and then sprinkles them over the fire.

The fire crackles with all manners of colours of light and a bright blue light blazes high into the sky seen from all around.

The shaman removes an old twisted implement from his bag and begins to draw all manner of strange symbols. He completes an unusual swirl, sprinkles more of the strange substance over it and waits. Moments later the symbol begins to glow with a strange purple light and he smears some of the coloured swamp mud into his hands.

Standing, he walks over to ***** and removes his shirt and paints the swirl around his left shoulder. He points at it then points to *****.

The shaman returns to the fire and draws a crescented moon with an ascending structure. Looking at it for a moment he waits, and as the other, it begins to glow with a strange yellow light. He looks at **** and paints the moon on the back of **** neck. He points at the symbol once more and then *****.

The shaman returns to the fire and draws two sets of adjacent lines curving upwards and looks at it moment, almost seeming uncomfortable. He waits and the symbol begins to glow and he proceeds to paints the face of *****. He grabs hold of both of his arms, seeming somewhat serious and conccerned and looks him in the eyes.

THe shaman once again returns to the fire and draws a circle around it. All of the symbols light up, changing in alternate colours and he stares into the light for a moment. He looks at each of the remaining party members and stops at Ghaz. Removing a a piece of each symbol and some of the ash of the fire he paints a sequence of circles across his Ghaz's right shoulder. He looks at him, sad for a moment, but then confident all will be ok.

The circle the shaman drew around the fire begins to glow with a grayish light. It is clear a scene is playing out in front of you. Suddenly from no where, the circle is struck by a giant icy white object as an ancient vampire curses the skies. Then several more objects bombard and it begins to shine with blues, browns and finally a wonderful earthly green. It appears this is the creation of the planet. Finally the bombardment stops as two final circles approach but do not crash into the planet.

The shaman returns to the fire and begins to chant something. All members of the party begin to eminate with a strange light. Runes floating upwards from their place in the swamp and encircle all of the members. The party are overcome with a strange bliss as the area glows so bright none can see each other. Visions of the past and future flutter into vision.

A goblin standing atop a mount, a disease ridden city guarded by something ancient, a black hole deep in a dark place sucking all life into it and finally a great crystalline dragon travelling vast distances in space with some reason for haste.

Finally there is a vision of the party battling a lost guardian in the commonlands as time collapses around them.

As the light begins to dim down the troll speaks in a tongue not of its own.

'Now you must walk the path to Aeteok and Enoxus. Open the gate in the eastern commonlands at the location of a buried druid ring, *he points at Ghaz* it is time for you to travel to the Bell Tower and change the fate of Norrath forever. '

The light fades and with it the troll. It is time for you head to the commonlands.

LORE TIME!:

The shaman returns to the fire and begins to chant something. All members of the party begin to eminate with a strange light. Runes floating upwards from their place in the swamp and encircle all of the members. The party are overcome with a strange bliss as the area glows so bright none can see each other. A goblin standing atop a mount, a disease ridden city guarded by something ancient, a black hole deep in a dark place sucking all life into it and finally a great crystalline dragon travelling vast distances in space with some reason for haste.

A goblin standing atop a mount: Don't know.
Disease ridden city guarded by something ancient: Old Sebilis + Trakanon? Chelsith?
Crystalline Dragon: Veeshan

Mixxit has said that a Goblin once held the Chelsith Stone. A cursory look for this Goblin hasn't turned up anything relevant yet.

I have no idea what is going on.. but,

If you look back to the deciphered image from Ghaz's Plight, are the clues any relation to the main symbols around the original symbol?

A goblin standing atop a mount, a disease ridden city guarded by something ancient, a black hole deep in a dark place sucking all life into it and finally a great crystalline dragon travelling vast distances in space with some reason for haste.

Rune of Rallos Zek:

A goblin standing atop a mount

At their pinnacle, the Zek army managed to invade the Plane of Earth and capture a Council of the Thirteen, and permamently slained him in Rathe Mountains. Is the Goblin hanging out there?

End of the Greenmist Empire:

a disease ridden city guarded by something ancient, may be related to Sebilis if Qaedain is correct?

Rune of Sundering:

and finally a great crystalline dragon travelling vast distances in space with some reason for haste.

Veehsan have any connection to this?

Rune of the Xulous:

a black hole deep in a dark place sucking all life into it

Related to Paineel possibly?

I'm clutching at straws. I have no idea what is going on, but it's all very interesting!

Damn, had hoped to catch the conclusion of this event. For future reference, how do people know when these are going down, or is it just luck of the draw and being online at the right time

Was never part of a GM Event on Live so now idea how these are run.

The foreboding Deathtoll Bell Tower, it rises higher than most mountains of Norrath. A soul could be lost forever within its hallways and forever is a possibility in the land of undeath that this structure dominates. For all its grandeur, it is not a place anyone hopes to visit. Yet, I find myself in an afterlife odyssey that demands my presence upon the bleak landscape of Ethernere.

If time existed upon this realm, I would have been here for five quatrains, wandering by the lost souls and doppelgangers. Every so often I cross an entity that strikes at my memory, a former friend or treacherous foe. If I can, I help them find their afterlife. If I must, I send them to oblivion. However, souls are never meant to leave the Deathtoll Bell Tower, they were summoned by the far reaching and bone chilling gongs of the bells. No, they must find their penance within the labyrinthine tower. Within this madness I seek the same and much more.

Every so often, I encounter shades in the bell tower, doppelgangers of living entities that are still bound to other realms. Some of these phantasmal counterparts break free of the bewitching bells. Sometimes they gather and perform tasks that mimic the events of another life.

It was on the run from the Harrowing Horde that I found myself in an unexpected place. Within the vastness of the Deathtoll Bell Tower, this was truly the last sight I expected. Before me were gathered a large number of shades and lost souls, each raising a tankard. Behind them stretched a long bar manned by a wide array of barkeeps. I waded through to lose myself amidst the revelry. The Harrowing Horde passed.

Having lost the Harrowing Horde, I found myself in a haunting tavern in Deathtoll Bell Tower. Although you would think that many of these entities would recall their hatred for the drunkard swaying next to them, there was no brawling. Teir'Dal and Koada'Dal drank side by side. Dwarf and ratonga leaned upon each other and swayed in inebriated cadence. This was a haunting safe haven where the lost have forgotten the urgency to escape. This was an eternal tavern where the revelry defied the grim reality of existence.

There are places in Deathtoll Bell Tower that are best departed before they snare you with a bewitching memory. To stay too long will lead to forever. The ghostly tavern I now stood in was such a place. I had best leave at once-but hold! I am a man of music and there in a realm far from mine, I hear it again, having heard it only once before. It was the song of the Church of Ale... so I had a few.

This is a dark brooding land of agony. It is a small pocket dimension. At the center of this small realm rises the Deathtoll Tower. This immense bell tower rings aloud, but in a low long gong. It rings whenever someone dies in the universe and their spirit is taken here to a limbo like state. Spirits wander the land and some even fly about and swirl around the tower in the eternal blood red sky. It is here all that pass through the gates of death must visit. Here they wait in a timeless space. They will either pass on to an eternal land within one of the primary planes or they will be returned to their realm. Here souls await their fate and here to can be found a few souls attempting to escape their eternal fate. Some who have sold their soul to eternal lands, lands no one would care to see, often attempt a futile escape back into mortal realms. Only a few souls thus far have been able to escape and of those even fewer escaped the Harrowing Horde sent to capture the escaped souls.
Of all the dimenesions theorized by great philosophers and theologists of Norrath, Ethernere is the one with the greatest amount of aliases. Limbo, The Gray Wastes, The Sea of Souls, The Land of Haunts, etc. There are a multitude of mythical names applied to this dimension. Norrath does have one nickname growing in popularity or at least in use. This alias for Ethernere is the Gray Fields.

Ghaz has entered the halls of the infinite. Do not feel sorrow or regret, he will succeed. He will return. That is what we all should pray for!

*raises his glass to the timeless* May you be victorious! May you return!

Don't worry. A lot of us are thinking it and saw it.
