My son keep getting this error when he attempts to log into the game. He was able to play just fine up until today. I've reinstalled the game, I've ran the heck out of the launcher (which doesn't show any servers currently, so we right click), we've tried to run the game through the shortcut both on desktop and in the game file. No matter what we do, it tells him the spell file is outdated.

Anyone able to assist us in resolving this issue?

Thanks

I couldnt get to Moes Taverne to download the EQEmu Launcher with other required files. I already modified my hosts, and got to the character login but receive SP-1 outdate spell file error.

I had my brother email me these files, as his p1999 install is working:

spellsnew.edd
spellsnew.eff
spells.eff
spells_en.txt
spells_us.txt

but i still get the same error. I must be missing something else that is in the eqemulauncher122.zip ... any tips?

edit: found link to v25 changes zip file, downloaded and replaced with the included. I can now character create. Thanks gotrocks for reply, Im all set.. maybe OP can try my fix.

Can you guys try using duxas all in one installer to update these files, then get back to me in this thread?

will do my best to get you both working.

Try three things for me, in this order:

Dont use launcher, just open eqgame.exe and see if that works. Also, please make sure you are running from the correct eq installation. If you have more than one, the launcher may be updating the wrong one.

try what langrisser did:

Maybe he can post the link, because i'm not sure where it is. I'm sure with a bit of searching you can find it.

Lastly, *completely remove* eq and reinstall, then run the launcher and/or duxas again.

Get back to me if none of these works and we'll go deeper.

Clean install of Titanium ... got above spell files from my brother but then replaced spells_us.txt and spellsnew.eff with the files I found here:
http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=84589
http://www.project1999.org/files/eqchangesv25.zip

I did notice my level one druid spell icons for healing and skin like wood are mixed up, so i probably did something wrong but its playable ...

remember to edit your eq hosts.txt to read
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

you may have to save the file to your desktop, make changes, and then copy in

set a shortcut for "eqgame.exe", NOT the everquest.exe!! with the tag patchme in shortcut launch, no quotes

example : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\EverQuest\eqgame.exe" patchme

Works fine now. All I did different was edit the files linked above. Now lets see if I can get it to play full screen without issue.

Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it. Love the community here :)

I think the problem you guys may have been having is the launcher wasn't set to run as an administrator. I believe this needs to be turned on depending on your windows settings, because it is overwriting files (windows wont allow this, particularly in the program files folder, without special permissions)

i could be wrong, but i'm glad its working now.
