My level 10 cleric won't load into the game

I was killing a blue skeleton in Lesser Faydark on Sunday evening about 7pm central. My game became unresponsive. I had to end the game using task manager. I restarted the game and was successful re-logging into my account seeing the character select screen. I attempted to log into the game on my level 10 cleric. When I click enter, the game attempts to log me in, running the loading screen and loading bar (loading zone message). The loading bar completes, disappears, and I stay at the at the EverQuest Firiona Vie/Iskar screen, music playing. I have left it "loading" for up to 15 minutes, to assure it was not just a slow loading issue. At this point, I have to stop the game using task manager. The task manager shows EverQuest unresponsive.

I created another character with no problems (two since), so guessed it was a problem with my character and the zone Lesser Faydark. I petitioned asking to have the level 10 cleric moved out of Lesser Faydark. A short time later, I was very pleased to see on the character select screen, she showed being in Greater Faydark.

Unfortunately, I am still having the same issue. Only THIS ONE character won't load into the game. I searched all my files for the character name and deleted them, just in case something related to this character was corrupt on my side. The next time I attempted to load her, the files recreated but I was still not able to log into the game.

I assume my character is logging into the game momentarily, as for a short time after I occasionally receive the Error 1018 indicating she did make it into the game, and had not logged out yet. (This doesn't happen every time. Many times I am able to log back into the game immediately after forcing the game to close)

IMPORTANT: I can log in to my other characters just fine. It is just this ONE character that won't load. (Of course she is awesome and is able to meditate and everything wonderful about level 10)

I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could provide.

Its been happening to far too many people lately, and nobody that I know of seems to have found a true cure for it... other than waiting, sometimes days, and then trying again to find they've logged in just fine :(

this problem really sucks, and has been happening for too many people...

im starting to wonder if it isnt a somehow corrupt character file serverside.... i honestly dont even know of this is possible, but it seems like it could happen....

I *hate* to say this, but it may be a good time to keep that character, and reroll another of the same race/class if you'd like to play it. You may even be able to get the gms to change all your equip to the new character (i would assume they'd be very willing to help with this issue, and changing over your equip has little effect in the end, though it will take them some time). It sucks, i know, but if this is do to some corrupt player file, who knows how lonng it could take to resolve (if ever). Many people report that once this starts happening, it works very sporadically, or sometimes simply not at all. Not fun.

Good luck, this is one that i frankly have zero answers for.

((btw, i do realize your problem is different from the people have the constant 1018 error, but it is similar. i do have one recommendation that will take less time than restarting your character, though i dont see why it would help... try reinstalling eq, then using eqemulauncher to patch to p99. after that, dont login to the server, just open eqgame.exe and see what happens. The only other thing that i could possibly think of is **maybe** this has something to do with a corrupted UI or options menu for that character... not likely, but possible. It would be very helpful to see if another player and/or admin could log into your account and play that cleric)

Thanks guys. I was ready to give up on this character a few days ago, but my gaming partner said I was giving up too easily. I'm over it.

Morica, may she rest in peace, thanks you all for your kindness to her. So many people were generous. She was almost full bronze and the pieces were given to her by multiple people. It really was a great first experience on this server.

Ruthann (shocking this awesome name wasn't taken, I know) is level 7. She hates life, but she has fought for all of her patchwork gear she wears.

Clear ALL cookies, clear temp internet files, and re-set your router

I WANTED TO BE SURPRISED!!! I love surprises....

But nope

I not only cleared all my cookies, temp internet files ....I cleared my cache, my temp files, and anything I thought looked like a waste of space.

Thank you Maze. I appreciate your suggestion.

I considered that also, so searched my computer for "Morica" and deleted files on my side without success.

So if you were to attempt to log into my account, wouldn't you get rejected for the multiple accounts on the same IP thing? The exemption would need to be applied to my account first, right?

what he's saying is log off the account, then try from a different PC (A different or fresh EQ installation)

I liked the idea of someone else attempting to log her better P~ I mean, Gotrocks and I will be married eventually and share IP's, we could request the exemption a little early.

In the interest of problem solving for others, I may try this on another computer in my house. I'm just afraid it will work, then I'll have to determine what exactly is the problem on my computer.

It happened again...this time zoning into Butcherblock.

After I set up my UI - mostly just adding two chat boxes, sizing them, moving them, and filtering. Three macro hotkeys.

I've reinstalled and am able to play again.

Going to leave it as default for a while to see if I have the issue again.

Edit: After thinking about this more, the UI shouldn't be the issue. I read the post about copying UI from one character to another, and then verified I had deleted the UI data related to Morica prior to my first re-install and that did not solve my issue.

So you're still havin' the same issue, future-wifey? (;) )

get back at me in a pm/post on here and we'll try to crack this egg before i start trying to crack yours. (/snicker)

I played all weekend with no issues, although I was mostly on another character. I did zone several times with Morica, with no issues. I did alter my UI without issue.

I'm glad it's working, but I would have liked to determine what the cause was.

This happened to my wife and I (on different computers) over the weekend. I tried several things - in the end, I went into my EQ folder, renamed my character's config file (so the game could create a new one upon startup).

It fixed it. After that, I logged in fine. Of course, I had to recreate all of my macros and setup my hotbars again, but it did resolve the problem. Try it next time.

Same issue. Other people can log in my character fine. I can get to char select screen but never into the world. Other characters on the same or different accounts log in FINE. I renamed the config files with the character's name attached, issue unresolved. Renamed them back. Tried WinEQ and EQEmuLauncher. Tried eqgame.exe with the patchme and same issue. Haven't logged him on in over 2 days now. Usually this problem only lasts an hour or less then i can magically log in like normal again. But now, 2 days of getting redirected to the login screen after selecting my character. Not very fun.

Looking at the logs I get disconnected at various times during the login procedure after character is selected.

"Networking: connection terminated [client:DisconnectReasonOtherSideTerminated,server: DisconnectReasonNone]"
"disconnected at C:\EQ\EverQuest\EverQuest.cpp:17233 (char. select) DisconnectReasonOtherSideTerminated,DisconnectReas onNone"

sometimes followed by-

"nError is TRUE at C:\EQ\EverQuest\EverQuest.cpp:20261"

The furthest I've gotten in the login steps is-

"MSG_TIME_STAMP received. (Items inc)."

But I can get dropped much earlier in the process, even while client side graphics setup is still ongoing i can get disconnected instantly.

**Just wanted to note i can log on other accounts and other characters on those accounts and other characters on this same account just FINE.

I am able to login in the said character above for him on my computer just fine. He did mention possibly doing a fresh reinstall- though he just recently installed a fresh new copy. Ughh!

Let us know if the re-install worked.

I notice I didn't say it in this thread, but I eventually dumped my problem account and made a new one. I've played two months without issues on the new account.

Yeah this is a very old account i forgot to mention, nearly as old as the server. I'm not going to re-install yet since I really don't think it will help. I remember this same issue coming up 2 years ago where i couldn't log characters in at random, but it may have been a separate issue.

And yeah, I read a lot of threads, Lyra, and i thought i picked up hints that you had created a new account and started over. I'm not doing that, not even an option lol.

Also just remembered i had another install of EQ on a separate hard drive attached to this computer. That install won't let me log on either, just tried it. Exact same result.

Current install is on a SSD and i'm not going to lower it's lifespan by repeatedly reinstalling EQ every time i get a character locked out.

Also, I use satellite internet so my ping is minimum 800ms and average about 1500ms. If I can ever get logged into the world then i can play forever as long as i don't zone or log out. The high ping is a very minor annoyance in a PvE game, easily still playable ...even if it turns my FD into a 3-5 second cast time.

Fresh install. No change. Still can't log in my necro, been 3 or 4 days now, i lost count.

Attached is the log of my first attempt to log in with a clean install. I haven't posted any other logs but believe me when I say this is (for all intents and purposes) the same.

Awwww! So sorry! Maybe make a new one, in addition, to play when you can't access your old one.

Awwww! So sorry! Maybe make a new one, in addition, to play when you can't access your old one.

I've already got 6 accounts and my girlfriend has 3. Well, i have 2 of my accounts unbanned, the other 4 are still locked. Now, out of my 2 accounts I have gotten back, the ONLY geared player i have left is the one i can't log in to. Right before getting banned 2 years back I had stripped my other characters naked to gear up friends that had just joined the server. So like I said, my only non-naked character is my necro and the server refuses to let me play him. I can log on every single other character on every account I've tried, except this one. I thought it had something to do with the zone he was in (gfay) so I had a friend move him to BB but i still can't log him in. Now he's in Overthere and I still can't log him in. This is beyond stupid. I've already put maybe 10 hours of research into this garbage trying to fix it from my end (i'm convinced more and more it's NOTHING on my end that's wrong, the server is dropping my connection, the kill command is coming from the server, not from my end).

I've reinstalled countless times, i've removed ini files and had the game recreate new ones countless times, i've used eqemulauncher, i've used wineq2, i've used a modified patchme shortcut to eqgame.exe, i've deleted zone files and replaced with new, i've rebooted my comp, i've rebooted my router, i've rebooted my modem. And the sadest part? I remember having this EXACT SAME issue 2-3 years ago when i used to play and after 2 years there has been no fix. It is still a regular problem for a sizable fraction of the population. It's just hard to justify ''starting over'' when the issue is UNRESOLVED and may return at ANY time without warning on any account/character. **The only thing I haven't done yet is install one of the all-in-1 install packages, i just always reinstall off my titanium disks. I had found a link to a ''files'' resources page on this site once before but i can't find the link anymore. I'll try the downloadable copy of the installer in the next few days, or next week, or whenever i'm so motivated to set my self up for disappointment again.

It makes absolutely no sense that I can log on any other character I choose EXCEPT my necro. And everyone else can log on my necro without issue. I just don't see how this problem still exists, the game is effectively unplayable. I'd love to come back and show my girlfriend how to play EQ since she never had before, and to do it alongside other friends that still play on p99. Just wish my other 4 accounts would get unbanned so I could at the very least log onto a character I DIDN'T want to play but still have the ability to play. It'd be boring as hell sitting on my cleric helping my girlfriend level up, but it'd be less boring that spending hours watching my client NOT log in.

~Incredibly frustrated

p.s. thanks for the replies Lyra, at least someone knows how i feel. I would PM a game master for help but i thought i read in the forum rules they don't want us to do that.

Hey User, is your EQing computer a desktop or a laptop? Is it possible for you to connect to the internet using something other than your router?

From the log:
2013-03-23 00:10:48 Zone Connect -- 2 -- Sending MSG_EQ_ADDPLAYER
2013-03-23 00:13:48 Networking: connection terminated [client:DisconnectReasonTimeout,server:DisconnectRe asonNone]
2013-03-23 00:13:48 disconnected at C:\EQ\EverQuest\EverQuest.cpp:17233 (char. select) DisconnectReasonTimeout

That looks like a legit 180 second timeout to me. Something wasn't returning the connection, and the most likely culprit is your router.

Try connecting via some other internet connection that bypasses your router completely as a simple method to rule it out.

User

restarted router and modem (unplugged). wired my desktop directly to the modem. ran EQ. This time i was booted before even being 180 seconds into the log. thanks by the way for pointing that out bukinashi. that one actually did say a timeout occurred, but that's the first time i've seen that lol. Wonder if it had something to do with a fresh install.

disabled my firewall then logged on my rogue on that account, logged in instantly, camped out, tried logging on the necro on the same account, failed. log is attached below:

Put in a forum petition and reinstall EQ in the interim - probably corrupt data on your end, but if it's a serverside bug they can still move your character out of that zone.
