among experts of terrorism in the academic world the "war against terrorism" approach is considered an extremely ineffective way of handling and dealing with terrorism in the long term, but these terrorists have invaded mali and are planning to turn it into their own terrorist state so i believe it is the correct thing to do for france to stop them asap with whatever means necessary

Leave France to deal with it by themselves, they've kept their distance from world events over the last 12-13 years.

No doubt it will give RT (rt.com) something to talk about other than taking swipes at the US for a couple of weeks.

Europeans should quit beating around the bush and just straight up govern Africa again. Africans get stability, Europeans get to exploit natural resources, everybody wins except the A-rabs who don't get anywhere to set up their sharia theocracies.

China would probably have big problems with that now........

So what did they discover in Mali that's worth exploiting for this shit to go down? Gold? Diamonds? Oil? Send the troops in, make way for profit!

As for the whole policy of U.S. military interventions is that the USA is damned if they do damned if they don't so what does it matter? As for France staying out of world affairs for the past decade that's not entirely true as they have just ended their combat role in Afghanistan this past November and that could possibly be contributed the the new president France elected. I think it's a shame that these rebels jihadists whoever they are have destroyed rich historical places in Mali, enough for war idk?

yes, the US needs material for Black Hawk Down 2

maybe George Clooney, Alec Baldwin or someone equally insufferable can be the guy falling out of the helo this time

Pretty sure I don't care.

Scratch that. The more I read about what's going on the more I think the US needs to supply support at the very least. I doubt armed intervention will be necessary but logistics, air refueling etc. are needed and I'm sure appreciated.

I approve. Kill them all and take everything.

I like clooney :(

Also, I could care less as long as the U.S. doesn't get involved. Last thing we need is to be sending troops off to another battle we can't win.

**edit**

and getting more friends, fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, brothers and sisters killed. fuck that shit.

I don't disagree with the sentiment of your entire post, however I do disagree with the idea that Mali would be anything more than a speed bump to our military. Vastly different scenario in that country when compared to anywhere in the Middle East.

I'm sure you're right, but I'd rather not even take the risk at this point. Too much to worry about here at home.
