View Full Version : Velious UI released!

OK so I have finally got the UI to a stage where I am comfortable releasing it to the people. This UI is designed to replace your whole default UI - that means you rename default to something like default_old and make a new default folder with this UI in it. If you don't know how to do that, don't try changing your UI around.
Now there are some major visual differences with this UI compared to what you would consider 'classic velious'. This is mostly to do with the modern code vs what could be done. For example the social buttons (afk, GM, who, etc) are preset to only show white text - you can't change the default setting. Of course having those on a white hotkey would mean that you wouldn't see the text so I had to go for a more neutral gray color. Also the changes to the spellgem and hot button backgrounds are again to do with how a modern hotkey is drawn. You would end up with a blank key when pressed or with a floating button if I hadn't done the keys how I did.
Anyhow enough with the way the code is done (I'm sure enough people will weigh in with an opinion in the forum), below you will find a pic and a link to the standard default UI as well as MY personal extras that replace the defaults to give more of a modern option than the old velious windows gave you. Try them and give me some feedback!
links removed as its now the standard UI.

Woots! Thank you sir!
So there is no way to make the spell gem hot keys have a normal background? They have to be the color of the icon?
Oh, and that Flicka chick in the background is smooookin!

Check the extras for the EQUI_Inventory.xml. The default is to try to be as close as I could get to 'classic Velious'.

Care to elaborate? I'm pretty illiterate when it comes to code for UIs.

Copy the EQUI_Inventory.xml file from the velious_default_extras.zip file to your default ui folder and overwrite.

what is the reason to replace the default ui? why not create a new folder named MyVeliousUI or whatever and load this instead?

Because it has updated EQUIS_ files (the log in files)

Hi,
I'm having a problem with the UI.
I downloaded the velious UI from the "Getting started" thread :
http://www.project1999.org/files/veliousui.zip
First of all, is it the same as the one in the thread?
Second of all, I canno't move my buff window, neither my chat windows, even though they are not locked.
Which means I can resize them, but cannot move them (While moving my cursor over one of those two windows, the cursor never changes into two double arrows crossed, required to move the windows)
Can somebody help? this is VERY annoying.
Thank you !

No, it's not the same UI. The one above is an update to the standard Titanium default where mine is a complete rewrite.

Did you right click and unlock the windows? Also the buff windows (and others) are only re-sizable, you have to move one edge and then move another, etc.

as stated above : yes they are unlocked.
But you mentioned you can only resize the buff and chat bar, guess I will try your little trick to move them.
Will try your UI too.
Do I have to paste all the files to the uifiles\default directory?

Rename the current UI to default_old and then unzip my UI into a new default folder. Everquest will then use my UI as the default and you still have what you use now as a backup if you don't like mine.
