Heroes of Norrath: The Lost Land (page 6)
Heroes of Norrath: Antonica Bound (page 4)
Maxadon and I were sitting in the Lesser Faydark one evening when we began to receive messages from someone named Joseph. Apparently he had claimed lordship over The Estate of Unrest and was taunting us...Us?!..taunt... "Is he a knight!!!" I whispered to Max, with growing concern. Brell be blessed! We knew we were going to have a fight on our hands!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide1_zpsc3c71ede.png
We began to form a plan of attack and, with great haste mind you!, made our way to Unrest with hopes of finding a hero to fight!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/BATTLE_zps32da44c4.gif
We discussed our final, strategic preparations and then entered the den of living dead and Joseph!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide2_zpse9775aeb.png
We arrived and began to mount a strategic verbal assault. Joseph the Deceiver finally came out of the castle, noticeably hurt by our viscous words.. This she man was still strong though, resisting our spells and prancing to the cauldron with astonishing grace and speed!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide3_zps0b832e36.png
With Joseph banished from the zone there was very little left to do. We decided to call it a night and [prepare our camp?]. Little did we know of the glory that was to be had the following day!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide4_zps4bdc5874.png
We awoke the next day to find a man of impressive stature in Unrest. He was called Fatnasty! And a more fitting name I cannot recall. He seemed to want to follow the popular battle convention of running to Dagnor's.. Nevertheless we beat upon his head and chest with great ease until he ceased to live! Fatnanny then began to berate us with threats....something about experience.....a bad experience?? Maybe about the life lesson we just inflicted upon him?! Anyways, we figured if these threats were anything like Fitnusty himself then they'll,.. run to the cauldron and die before they get there?
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide5_zpsb44f7f1d.png
Shortly after our scuffle we realized that Joseph the Spry was with us in Unrest. We then saw a quick footed half man run into the castle. Assuming they were in cahoots we decided to leave on a high note and head for The Castle Mistmoore, in search for some real heroes to fight!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide6_zps4b672a41.png
We had finally reached Mistmoore when Mr. Fitnaughty, who must have forgotten that he was still upset, began to harass us again! I was so infuriated by this display of delayed anger that I fired back with the most heinous insult that I could muster! It is safe to say that we never saw or heard from Fatfunny ever again. The shame of being bested by both the mind and the blade must have been to much to bear!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide7_zpsc746fdb8.png
Finding no new heroes in the Mistmoore region we decide to head back to Butcherblock and mount another attack on Joseph, who was still hanging around. This time we sought the advantage and hurled a fiery insult his way, striking his deepest nerve no doubt!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide8_zps7f13a178.png
We reached Butcherblock and began to strategize. Joseph had seemed to acquire a Guild and some underlings in the brief time we were gone and we knew we were quite outmatched. As we thought of our glorious demise his goons zoned in by themselves! There were two of them. We relished the thought of an even match and met them on the killing fields.

Max fought with great skill and I with much bravery and honor. I was the first to die but Mr.bigsx died one swing later. "What an even exchange!' I thought. Had we finally found our heroes? I noticed that these Bigxss' were dealing tremendous damage to our heavily armored selves. How do they do it!?!?
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide10_zpsa06ad500.png
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slidebook_zpsa3239ad0.png
Max and I are bound in the Greater Faydark. And As it would turn out the dwelven Bigs brothers were bound in Kaladim. This lead to an interesting brawl to say the least!
Max and Mr.bigs were playing a frightening game of hide and seek as I ran back to my corpse. I picked up my axe up and was immediately attacked by Mr.bigs. Max and I then proceeded to axe murder him in his blue face. Mr.bigx arrived during that fight, but much to late. His brother had perished, and I was once again at low health.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide11_zpsd03f1d9a.png
Mr.Bigx must have been grief stricken by his brother's and his demise. In his emotional rage he relentlessly attacked Max and left me alone. must shine heavily on Max and I indeed! We proceeded to defeat the remaining brother, in quite an impressive fashion. Very low on health, and quite possibly on [I]rations, we decided to make a tactical retreat after our 3 to 1 victory.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Heroes%20of%20Norrath/Slide12_zps03676dbc.png
These Bigxs's were clearly not amongst the very skilled or brave. As we left Butcherblock and recollected on the battles we had won, I came to realize, that there truly are,.. very few heroes left in Norrath.

I think the term legend is a joke on a low population emulated server, but some of those names have documented wins against the odds.
As for Slathar I would agree with you. Losing to a couple new guys in roleplay mode while being twinked is embarrassing. It pretty much erases any achievements on this server.

Leaving Faydwer was not a difficult choice for us. Only the lesser citizens of Norrath seemed to dwell in that wretched place. Max and I decided to head to the vast continent of Antonica in our ever constant search for death and glory.
We knew that if we were to leave Faydwer we would have to get our souls bound to the land, but this did not concern us! It is a casters job to help and buff others...everyone knows that. "The bustling city of Freeport will be full of them!" I shrieked to Maxadon.
Wrong.....how could we have been so wrong. We arrived in the ghostown that is Freeport and were bewildered. Days passed and we saw no one. We finally happened upon some folk but these dregs of society would not even acknowledge us! We searched high and low for a bind, for a fight,... for anything! Our hope had begun to fade.......
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide222_zpsedec58bd.png
Apparently the cowardice in Faydwer runs farther and deeper then we knew. What a sad state the world is in!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide333_zps62d5733f.png
Our luck began to change one day when a druid dandy named Sir Achas meandered into Freeport. Not interested in giving us a bind at all, this man relished the thought of a merciless beating and we were, of course, happy to oblige! He started off by casting a spell on me while I was sitting by some guards....which did not turn out so well for him. To our surprise this Mary came back however, and we met him at an unguarded area. The beating that ensued lasted 14 seconds.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide444_zpsd96da878.png
We were somewhat disappointed by his extraordinary lack of courage. Of course all druids have the gate spell memorized at all times, so we were not very surprised when he cast it.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide555_zps9c5a8abe.png
Shortly after this encounter a luminous being of hope and good will entered the zone! Telemakos was his name. He was happy to bind us to the land and now we were free to roam Antonica without the worrisome thought of being sent back to Faydwer. We were overjoyed to say the least!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide666_zpsd5b8dcad.png
We decided to bestow the greatest honor we could think of upon Telemakos The friend. We named a constellation in his honor! If you ever find yourself without hope, thinking all is lost, then look to the sky! If your lucky his glorious light just might shine upon you!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide777_zps8942d704.png
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Josephgypsy_zpsdad78efb.png
And so we became gypsies. We roamed the land stealing crops and abducting children as all gypsies do.....we had to pass the time somehow! Finding a good ol' fight wasn't an option.... the people of Norrath are like the fog of Kithicor, an anonymous, hidden haze.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide888_zps5bdb52e8.png
We had made it to the Southern Karana when we decided this lifestyle was not for us. We started beating up some giant bird men when a member of our favorite cult showed up! We quickly realized though that this man was unique....different from any other we had fought ( which isn't saying much! ). This Mr.happy leapt from the shadows and struck us, but then vanished from sight instantly! His transmogrification from both seen and unseen was remarkable! "This must be a rouge!" I said to Maxadon. "Why, look at his immense damage and his stealthy cunning, the likes of which we have never seen!". "No no!" said Max, "This must be a shaman! Look at his impressive speed and regeneration!" Whatever this creature was, he was driving us mad. Completely defenseless, we headed for Lake Rathe in a desperate attempt to find an advantage.
http://imageshack.us/a/img12/9950/shadowse.gif (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/12/shadowse.gif/)
Just before we reached the lake I noticed the creature had somehow drawn the ire of the bird men. I realized this could be our only chance for victory and I siezed the opportunity and rooted him. We beat him down with the help of the birds, but he simply would not die! My spell broke and he resisted all other attempts and like a fat, evil whisper he vanished into thin air and headed for Lake Rathe.

Mr.whatever was no where to be found. We decided to heal up and attack the local undead for our own amusement. Only minutes had passed when Mr.happy made a, not so triumphant return. He didn't seem particularly anxious to fight us at first but he did however hurl insults at us that made little to no sense!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide1111_zpsb44ec596.png
We were slowly loosing this prolonged battle. As our health and mana dwindled the creature's seemed not to. At one point we leapt into the sea thinking that this man with the shiny armor would be poor at swimming and we would have the advantage, and what do you know, we were right! He realized this quickly and slowly swam back to land, where on occasion I somehow got the better of this invisible man!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide1212_zpsd7c4b34c.png
Max and I were low....on everything.... and found ourselves once again in the water. He seemed to loathe the lake so we took this opportunity to heal up. This momentary ceasefire didn't last long though. Mr.shiny managed to win the favor of a gnoll embalmer and somehow sent it on Max's poor pet, who was diligently attacking him the whole time. We fought it off easily enough but as it would turn out there are much fouler things than Mrhappy in the deep places of Norrath....
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide1313_zps9361919e.png
This deepwater goblin made quick work of us. We hadn't the slightest idea that such a powerful being lurked in the waters below. This must have been part of the creature's master plan no doubt, and it was quite effective!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/Antonica%20Bound/Slide1414_zps33f90af4.png
As we sat at our bind point we began to wonder what the future would hold for us. Could we ever redeem ourselves and restore our honor?....Our dignity!!? We know not. As we stared at a barren and desolate Freeport we began to regret our decision, to be bound here in Antonica.

Max and I were growing bored. Our passion for heroics was starting to fade as we traversed these familiar lands time and time again. We decided to travel to the unseen regions of Norrath in an attempt to rediscover, something.....
It wasn't long until we found ourselves deep in the dungeons of Highkeep! We met a poor loner by the name of Rootbeard, and as we are not ones to bully on a lone straggler, invited him to join in our adventurous ways. It was at this time that Miguel entered Highkeep and sought to challenge us.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/firstslide_zps47726f53.png
This man knew the ways of cowardice well! He would cast his ranged spells on us and then run to the guards before we could strike at him. At one point I managed to land a root when he stuck his cowards neck out from the doorway to cast a spell. Since he was levitated I ran underneath him up to the guards without him seeming to know! Being short has it's advantages. Before he realized this he had already cast a spell on me and now the guards were slapping him with their swords! I knew we had but a brief window to secure our victory. As Mr. Perez dispelled my root I managed to call out for Max to use his harm touch, and our victory screech could be heard all throughout The Pass! Good ol' Rootbeard was a swell ally, keeping us healed and buffed throughout the engagement! May your future be as, delicious as your name!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/secondslide_zps9b47f14b.png
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/thirdslide_zpsb155bda9.gif
Seeing all that Highkeep had to offer, we set out for another region that was foriegn to us, the Deserts of Ro! We arrived at this wasteland finding nothing but crocodiles and gypsies. As we searched the sands for willing opponents hours became days, and days became weeks! Just as we were about to abandon the desert something strange caught our eyes; something that looked to be a crocodile running on two legs! Assuming we hadn't caught the desert island madness, we quickly pursued this beast. Luckily for us some of Maxadon's kin entered the region and we sought their help in this matter.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/fourthslide_zps4694a982.png
These folk seemed rather confused though and were not of much help.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/fifthslide_zps21f44127.png
After this encounter we began to hear rumors of a lost land called Kunark, where these gator men resided. A more prefect opportunity for adventure I cannot recall! We decided to head to the Commonlands tunnel before we departed to stock up on supplies and try our hand at the subtle intricacies of trade!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/sixthslide_zpseed518c1.gif
We were off! Aboard the many shoddy wooden barges we traveled, even managing to find some unexpected fights along the way.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/seventhslide_zps0128a678.png
At last we had arrived! This place was called The Overthere, or so we read. Apparently there are evil creatures and plants a plenty on this forsaken continent!
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/eigthslide_zps1d5f5589.png
We were quick to find a band of nomads in this region, beating up the local wildlife. They were many leagues away but we managed to get a glimpse of one of the legendary Scalemen! Of course, I knew what must be done. "Let's see how these vagabonds fare against two champions, instead of plants and chickens!" I giggled to Max triumphantly.
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/ninthslide_zps0b0e48fe.png
Uarghh..!, I fell quickly...The sharp smell of defeat filled my nostrils....But I had confidence in Max! Where I had failed he would surely succeed!

We had thought our heroism was fading, and now we knew it to be true. Even the light of Telemakos could not rekindle our hope, our pride! We were truly lost..
http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/ff174/michaelland5/eleventhslide_zps07c59101.png
As we contemplated hanging ourselves in the Freeport gallows we decided to first head back to our old stomping grounds, to see if our actions would be remembered, to see if we had changed the land for the better.

For the first time we began to remember, not the gaggle of enemies we had slewn, but the much smaller number of friends we had met along the way!

A thought began to enter our minds just then - Being a hero is not only about victory, or manipulating the loyalty of guards to kill your foes, but about adventure and courage! We've now come to understand that as long as we roamed the land of Norrath, and challenged the folk who inhabit it, we would never be lost again.
