Hello All, my friend has showed interest in starting up p1999 with me so we are starting to theory craft while he searches for his copy of titanium.
We will be Duoing most of the time so I was wondering what you guys think would make a great 2 man team.
He has shown interest in Druid as kiting is kinda his thing.
The duo I have been thinking would be most efficient would be (as our gear is limited):
Necro/Druid... For kiting goodness
Chanter/Druid ... For Charming and mind candy
Bard/Druid ... For tons of utility and kiting
I would love more suggestions for good duo's. Im glad he likes the idea of druid for purely selfish reasons :)

I don't really like any of the three combo's you presented. No real tank on any of them. Two casters sound good on paper but if your spells fizzle or you run oom your goose is cooked. Bard Druid has to be the worse of the bunch. Druids are always oom and the Bard doesn't need mana on paper. So the Druid sits for 8 minutes while the Bard runs in circles for 20 minutes?? Please don't tell me a Bard can Tank.
You are really taking three classes that are good at soloing and trying to make them a combo. EQ is really based on a few classes that can solo, or the basic Tank, CC, Healer group.

Necro druid would be pretty effective, especially in later levels. But I do agree a bit with the above post, something like monk/druid would be more versatile.

Chanter/druid is a really great combo.

Wtf u talkin about? Bards can tank fine.... Tons of cc/slows/haste/mana-hp regen and hella more. I would def do bard/Druid myself.

I've played with a friend using both the druid/enchanter and the druid/necro (I was the enchanter, druid respectively) at around level 60 and they both work really well. Only thing was our druid/enchanter pair was using a dire charm pet (old wurms in skyfire), which as the plan goes, will never happen on this server. It is quite easy killing a guardian wurm with a dc pet once it is slowed.
Still, you can fear kite with animation (which gets pretty good when buffed up), or just charm something. Having everything snared makes things very easy. Some people say enchanter/shaman is better and cite the malo line. However I think if your enchanter has sufficiently high charisma I would sooner have the snares (and ports).
Necro/druid works basically as a necro soloing with the druid using ensnare instead of the darkness line (though you can use darkness). Just that ensnare lasts forever so it makes things easier. Druid also casts whatever regen on the necro, and does the pulling to give the necro as much sitting time as possible.
Druid/bard sounds pretty awful. Where is the dps? Druid/SK druid/warrior or druid monk would be a lot better (monk perhaps the best), but you would be many times better off with a shaman instead of the druid. Just fight mobs that don't run. There are plenty to be found.

sigh, enc/shaman is the best duo.

A Bard can't tank a Green Mob. Get real.

All good choices. Mage is a fun class in a duo too, given how strong their pets are.
Enc/Cleric or Enc/Shaman are even stronger at high levels than Enc/Druid, but the latter can still get it done.
Being gear-limited at first, you've got the right idea to stick to casters. You can do a reasonable Monk/Shaman duo without a huge starting investment, and that is a great duo for all levels, but any other melee-based combination would be pretty slow and/or frustating in comparison.

I was in the same situation a couple years ago. My brother and I after trying a few different combinations finally decided on druid + mage. My brother was able to farm up his focus items at lvl 12 and we killed very very well. But anyways, I would definitely suggest either druid +mage(with mage focus items) or shaman + monk.

If one of you can stomach being a healer, there's no better duo than enchanter (charmed pet)/cleric. I'm wholly convinced.

Web is literally a moron. I'm a 55 bard who can tank in seb no prob. As far as dps have the Druid sow u both and go grab about 100 mobs and have Druid get below 20% and bard follows the pack aoeing. If u can lvl faster than that then say how here or stfu
At lvl 50 u can kill 100 mobs in 15 mins. That's gather and kill. Prepare to lvl, u can thank me later.

I have searched for Duo, Duo's, Team, and group, with lackluster results. (Duo has given 0 results)

Thanks Splorf. That post was a while back...I was looking for newer opinions. If you are not going to give any kind of insight on the duo, no need to post here. Thanks

google search works better than forum search but this topic has been beat to death for over a decade.
monk/shaman
sk/shaman
chanter/shaman
druid/chanter
cleric/chanter
mage/chanter
mage/necro
bard/necro
cleric/warrior
shaman/warrior
You can pretty much make what ever combo you want work. My personal fave is either cleric/chanter or shaman/chanter.

Newer opinions . . . because the mechanics of classic EQ have massively changed in the past 6 months?
And I prefer to post insights on your lack of search foo :D

thank you for this Splorf as it was the only post that was not an insult in some way. I appreciate it. I understand the mechanics of EQ have not changed however this is a forum of opinion.

I like Monk Shaman the best. Enchanter Cleric next. Cleric heals Chanters Charmed pet. And keeps Chanter alive. My main is a druid and they are just not that great healing without Clarity. Just oom all the time at higher levels. Although a Iksar Monk with a Fungi and and if he uses mend is not hard to heal with a Druid. That is what me and my son play, Druid Monk. The Druid can port all over and that is a big plus on farming, or if we die. Shaman has canni dance to help re gen mana and Cleric Complete Heal is very mana efficent for what it does.
I guess any combo can work. It is just the two I mentioned are probably the most popular. But play what you want. Some people like my son never play a healer and I hardly ever play a Melee. A Bard is a great class if you can twist. But not many can very well. At least not for hours on end. Good Luck.

Thanks Web. I am lucky to have a chanter sitting in his 30's I plan to sit him in the zones we plan to duo as to keep my druid pal pumped with Clarity at all times. As the druid levels and gets ports, this will become even easier as he will be able to port my Chanter to those zones, and once i get him to his 30's i may even just start duoing my chanter with him, as i do indeed love my chanter.

Also to minimize with downtime, and since you have access to a clarity I would recommend someone staying some healing class so druid is a good choice, but Shaman is really the best for duos.
I have a Shaman and I have nearly 10 monks on my friends list. I gained probably 20 lvls + just duoing with monks.

Lol no....i dont even box on servers that allow it...im too lazy for this.
My chanter is on the same account as whatever toon i will be duoing with my friends druid. I will simply camp my chanter in the zone we are xping and jump on and give clarity as is needed to the druid.
