View Full Version : Question About Item Reimbursement

I'm assuming there are some non-GMs out there who might know this answer, so posting it in server chat for anyone to answer...
Do the different emu servers use the same GM commands and item reference numbers? By that I mean, if I log onto one of the GM command servers, I can type something like "#search platinum fire wedding ring" and find out the items ID number, then I could type "#summonitem 2232" to summon whatever item corresponds to that number.
The reason I'm asking has to do with reimbursement petitions. If the item ID numbers are the same between all the emu servers, then when anyone submits a reimbursement petition they could go onto the GM command server, find the item ID's of the item(s) they lost and post them in their petition to make it quicker/easier for the GMs.
To take it a step further, one could even write out something like...
"I had the following items poof:
1x itemX, id code abcd
2x itemY, id code fghi
summon commands:
#summonitem abcd
#summonitem fghi 2
thanks"
then once a GM decided they were going to reimburse the player, they would just have to copy and past each line from the petition into the game window. Obviously they would have to check it was the correct item after summoning it, but I would think that process would be much quicker, especially in the case of multiple items being lost.
So yeah, if that would be helpful for the GMs, I'd gladly add it to my own petition (had two bags poof on me), and again if its helpful then anyone could add it to there own petition to help things along.
Cheers

you are thinking way way too much into this
your character has a server generated /save
they will just restore your character if something happens, and they have /logs
if you sell something to a vendor or drop your bags on the ground or something stupid your SOL

nah, this was a bug. still have the bags, but all the items poofed on me. reported it in detail as both a reimbursement and an exploit, but won't go into that obviously.
i was under the impression that they couldn't just easily look at a "system restore point" for your toon and call it a day, so figured I'd be helpful. why make the GM's take 5 minutes to search for and type in item numbers when they can just copy, paste, and check its the right item. have summoned a bunch of gear on a GM command server and its fairly tedious, especially if their item database contains all the post-velious items (fabled versions of everything, some items appearing 2-3+ times with the same name but diff stats, JC gear obviously having a stat and stat-less version to sift through, etc)
if i can take a little time here to help make my petition that much easier to deal with, gms can spend more time helping others or working on velious or whatever.
swish, not sure if serious, but that giff made me laugh

All the techno-babble at the top made me think the only people who could answer it would be ultra-geeky players (maybe ex-live GMs) or GMs themselves lol.
Hope you get your items back. I've seen Rogean appear when melodrama threads on item/corpse losses so hopefully he (or Sirken, Ephi etc) can spare a minute :)

You're literally never going to see these "items" again. Last I remember, most players waiting for reimbursements weren't hearing anything for upwards of 6 months... and this was before Amelinda (person incharge of reimbursements) was canned. AKA you're never getting your item back.

I accidentally logged off with items in a no rent bag. I petitioned and received them the next day. Keep your head up!

Just work with the GMs and guides. They are extremely helpful. Much better than ever on Live. Just realize that they are few and have a lot to deal with, and this is a volunteer commitment and not their job.
Just list the items out. We can't guarantee the same IDs, or commands for that matter.
Currently reimbursement times are ranging from a couple of days to a couple of weeks. It really depends on how the item was lost, and whether or not we have a record of it. We almost always do.
And we don't do rollbacks, don't have the ability as far as I know.
I dig the spirit of your post though. Thanks for trying to help us out. Stay patient and you'll get a response.

Thanks Ephi! Even just getting a complete list of what was in the bags is a huge help.
I was shocked to see how much info you had dumped into a log. Rock on.

There's currently a bug where if you log out with more than one bag in your cursor, the contents of the other bags aside from the first one will be wiped out. Found this out the hard way (only lost two pelts, but still)

actually that happens any time you zone with more than one bag on you, which is sort of what happened to me, but with a twist.

... but with a twist.
You were dead the whole time? Water was lethal to your bag's contents?
