Do the TD fire pots work for teleportation, or is this a feature that came later on and not considered classic?
Sounds to good to be true and I'm not expecting them to work, but if they do work do you also require keys for use??

Yes they do work, any major city has one that drops down to it including Cabilis, but minus Qeynos [Verants evil way of making you port to North Karana and running across West Karana, even way past classic!]
You could bind there the first couple of days on Blue99 and Red99 server but then the ability to was removed, im guessing to immulate on how it was on live. Someone correct me if im wrong but Verant never intended for people to bind in TD at the portal room, a handful of people caught on to the benefit and it was then takin' out. So here they allowed it just a couple days for a handful of players to bind there like live, but thats that.

with that being said, within every city you can find a certain pot that allows you to travel to the pot room then onwards to another city, right?
any information out there of which pots in each city port to the pot room??

You can only go from the pot room to the cities, its a one-way trip. So unless you are bound there they really aren't that useful unless you're already in TD or traveling from like oasis to halas or some shit.

Pretty much. You can always buy an account that has a character bound there but expect to pay significantly more.

is it really a selling point for character exchanges? im not that fussed i was just re-visiting for nostalgic reasons, but i couldnt remember the ins and outs of them. I play a melee anyway so the binding issue wouldnt have effected me much anyhow :D

It is still a decent way to travel. If you're leaving Kunark or returning home to Cabilis and you don't want to go through FV you can just jump off and swim to the south-west corner of zone to get a port straight to your home city. I prefer the swim over those damned elves.

Unless you RMT yourself an account like people are blatantly doing on EC forum every day. I don't know why selling chars for plat is allowed. Obviously just makes RMT more tempting / rewarding. Char > Plat > $$ > Plat > Char.

There is a dragon (Faydedar) that wanders around those parts, so if by chance you are bound there I would consider fixing your ring of scale faction immediately. I know on live you can get agrod inside the room.
It's the same faction as the other kunark dragons. (for testing)

Lol. Faydedar lives maybe 15 minutes including the pull to ogre island and spawns every 96hrs +/- 48hrs. Consider it an honor if Faydedar attacks you.

When did they put binding in Timm deep back in to the game? Was it that revamp of Oasis of Marr? I remember binding in Timm deep during progression, so it must have been available back in 2006. It's currently available now. I didn't know about these firepots way back when I started in 2001, but I guess binding there wasn't available during Luclin.

Combined with the Locket of Escape, the Timorous Deep firepots room was quite obviously meant as a treat for those players who had the fortitude and wisdom to get and stay bound there on Live. Once word got around, they shut it down to keep it "exclusive". Appropriately, they emulated the same thing here.
I started playing here well after the nerf... still makes me want to /ragequit sometimes when I am waiting on an excruciatingly slow boat.

Meh.
The pot room seems like a "cool little gimmick" to me nowadays, and nothing more. Non-casters who actually bother to CR instead of finding a port or cleric (or logging and waiting for a port or a cleric) could shave a little time off of a CR. Most of the, anyway. A naked ogre warrior with a corpse in Kunark is going to have trouble getting out of Cabilis, ya know. But it's not like someone who could afford to bind a non-caster in TD is afraid to pay a few hundred pp to get a port/rez asap, right?
And casters? Yeah, it is convenient to be able to gate and end up at any city within a moment. But it is also convenient to be able to hat/hammer out of the depths of a dungeon and then gate right back to the dungeon entrance. Plus the Cabilis pot doesn't really put you too close to the action, and there never is a pot to Velious at all.

I think Verant was like 'hey wouldn't it be cool to put a bunch of teleporters under the ocean!' and totally misunderestimated (<3 GWB) the potential of a caster binding there.
That being said, 1-55 or so the firepots are great. 55-60 your main destinations are all in Kunark anyway; its nice for raiding and to run to the tunnel but it's not amazing. And as Tecmos said being able to gate back to your dungeon is nice as well. All in all I think at 60 the firepots are probably better but its not a huge advantage.
For melee I don't see the point really.

Is it just me, or does the akanon firepot not work?
i'm pretty sure i've clicked on every visible part of the pot and haven't been able to get there. i ended up just clicking felwithe and legging it.
has anyone been able to get to akanon?
