And dozens of other threads speak to this unspeakable.

It's about time we had a sticky for this - the humor has gone from talk of how to rent the game, get some pirates involved, Jack Sparrow etc etc.

I've decided I'm going to put it out there myself (of my own accord, not related to P99 etc etc) in an easy to get place. Will PM Valdarin, and if anyone else should happen to actually use the search function and sees this in 6-12 months hopefully the people who have downloaded it will share alike.

I decided I'd launch my own blog with EQ screenshots (and other stuff), hope everyone enjoys :)

I wonder how many people actually get some of the crazy hints people have dropped in the various threads.

My assumption would be that everyone eventually gets it, but then again, they are asking in the first place so they may be totally clueless...

no way to tell, really, since they rarely (or ever) come back and say 'haha guys i got it!! now where do i sign up??'

Any person who doesn't have any idea of how to procure some pirated software in the first place is probably beyond hope.

I think of it as an unofficial filter to keep the WoW kids away, since most of them can't find their way out of a paper bag or want it all done for them.

The hilarity of it is that its not illegal to download software from a torrent site if you owned the CDs at one time or another, even if they were destroyed. But the site has rules, and making silly posts to circumvent the rules seems foolish. Thanks to Swish for making it easy to understand.

God forbid you make it easy to get into a game that could really use some new blood. Apparently if you don't pirate software your not truly Classic EQ.

Making things "easy" appeals to the lowest common denominator. A large amount of love for classic EQ was that it was difficult as well as completely immersive. There is no joyously following the yellow brick road here like there is in WoW and most other MMOs out there. So making it easy for you is not classic in a sense.

Honestly, I could go on a long tirade on why "making it easy" is destroying the current gaming scene, but it has all been heard before.

I do agree to that. I never thought to check the unmentionables, but as soon as a lovely swashbuckler steered me to the right bay, it was all simplistic from that point on. If anything ever had the words "easy" and "Everquest" in the same sentence, I'd seriously laugh and discontinue my pursuit of that course. I enjoyed(and missed) the challenge of Everquest. I hope Everquest Next keeps that alive. If they decide to turn it into the Easy Life of MMO like every other game out there, I'll probably live on P99 until I have a coronary. Regardless, many thanks to the speedy replies on my post, and I've decided to embark on the PEQ server. Going by the name of Arnbjorn. Looking forward to the travels ahead.
