View Full Version : WTF!?
I just built a new computer with a quad core processor, 8g ram, a nice GPu and it almost loads slower than my old single core processor.
what gives?? it also crashes sometimes when im zoning in or out of kurns. not sure if this is the only zone it does it to or not but it's frustrating. it should be near instant load time.
EDIT:
running windows 7 64bit.
so i zoned into FoB and it booted me to login screen and my mouse disappears. i exit eq, relogin, load to char screen, go to load into the world and it boots me back to login screen. now it has happened 3 times in a row. before it would do it once then let me load into the world on the second attempt.

I also am experiencing this problem and am searching for a solution. been playing less than a week. The first couple of days played seemlessly zone to zone. Any help or advice resolving this would be much appreciated. TY in advance.
I checked to see how many cores it was bound to and it's showing all of them are checked.
There is also a "compatibility" tab in the rightclick>options menu. It says "If you have problems with this program and it worked correctly on an earlier version of windows, select the compatibility mode that matches that earlier version."
Guess i'll give this a shot and update on performance for the people who are having this same issue.

Everyone is having trouble zoning these days - I DC constantly while zoning.
Slow loads are more a function of hard drive speed, not CPU/Memory.
switching to windows xp didnt help boots during zoning. so that's a no go. i will look for the quad core fix thats probably our only hope.

I've been playing here for over a year. I've never had problems zoning until the last week or two. Now I seem to crash every 3rd or 4th zone. I've tried every solution in these forums and eqemulator.net. I am 99.9% certain the problem is not on my end.

what i notice is that the server loses track of you (breaks) with even a slight blip in the connection speed. like 1 dropped packet and ur screwed. Like it needs better QA server-side
Yeh I'm at a loss. The servers won't even show up now.
My old computer was a single core, 3g ram, shitty GPU, and only occasionally would have a crash. I really hope something gets figured out because there is no MMO like classic EQ.
I gotta agree with JackFlash n say it's on their end.

As far as the servers not showing up, it seems to just happen sometimes. Sometimes it's the same cycle for me.
I login a couple times and each time I get an unknown error otw to char select. Then I restart EQ and nothing shows up on server list. Then I restart EQ again and when I make it to char select, there aren't any toons. Then I restart EQ again and it works fine.
Seems to me like it's the server, not you. It's a real pain in the ass though.
