an iksar master in TD. Master Rinmark.
Upon turning in the Pebble Filled box I was rewarded with the Shackle of Bronze.
There is a line missing from his speech at this point.
"Alas, there is no time for celebration. I need your help in rescuing a [student] of mine."
Student initiates the next shackle quest. Shackle of Steel.
He does not respond to anything with "student"
Ie. "What Student?"
How can I help you rescue your student?
Nothing works.
Is this quest simply not in the game yet?
The shackle of steel was my main motivation! hope this is simply a bug and not the case of being not implemented yet. The work and time involved to get to this shackle is insane, so many hours, actually days.
Thanks for looking into this!

The Shackle of Steel is Velious. Sorry man, my iksar monk is in the same boat.

It technically is a bug, but isn't fixed until January 9, 2001, a month after Velious drops.

Read that thread. Hmmm. I understand keeping the server time line correct but a bug is a bug. If it's possible to be fixed why not fix it?

Lot of things in game not classic right now.
The insanely long spawn windows is one of them.
So fixing a bug prior to time line shouldn't cause any nerdrage.

the existence of one non-classic aspect of the server is not justification to make anything else non-classic. aka two wrongs don't make a right.
it sucks these quests don't keep going, but afaik they were plagued with bugs and fixes and changes on live. look up the Whistling Fists if you want to drool about something related to the shackles :)

Your argument is sound, two wrongs don't make a right or else where does it end? I get that.
But a bug, something originally intended to be in classic, fixing that has zero impact on any ones "classic" experience.
Changing aspects of classic to such things never intended to be in classic, now that would be truly anti-productive for an intended classic server.
A bug is bad code or lack there of, that slipped through the cracks of testing and made the final release of a product.
The quest, Shackle of Steel, was fully intended to be Kunark, not Velious. Fixing it would only repair that final product. Not change it.
To me sticking to the original time line means not introducing game changing aspects earlier than they should be or not at all if they never existed.
Fixing a bug alters nothing, merely improves original classic content by repairing it.

Cry all you want, that's not the way it happened then and it's not the way it will happen now. Whether it's bad code, was intended for kunark, or otherwise - it's not going to happen. It's not about what was intended for when, or how things should be - it's about how things were and recreating that experience (even if it's annoying and frustrating).
P.S. I also did this quest on my iksar monk thinking it would be available. Turned out it wasn't. Oh well... moving on.....

Not sure what age you are but you need to learn to distinguish a discussion vs complaining/crying. Forums are for discussion, it's why they exist.
Go ahead and move on though, good job.

the problem with fixing a bugged quest b4 it was fixed on live is, why not then also nerf stuff before it was nerfed on live? they took out TD binding and nerfed the fungi staff within days of launch of kunark. clearly these were HUGE oversights that they corrected, but didn't force ppl to rebind or change the few staffs that existed to reward those first people. same thing goes for manastone both dropping and being usable in the planes before sky came out, etc etc. you can't have one without the other. you also don't know why the quest wasn't fixed for so long. did the devs mean to put it in sooner, or did they start putting it in and said "lets wait on that" only to add it later when the time was right. or maybe they were just lazy about it or didn't know about the problem til much later. all we know is when it was fixed, so thats what we are going by, i think

Best counter argument so far but...
9ac 5str/stam 5 magic resist bracer doesn't seem over powered for the Kunark era though, so a decision to wait until Velious would seem unlikely.
My money is on that it is simply bad code. This item is also nothing like pre nerf fungi, manastone etc. Not even the same ball park.
This item existing right now has zero effect on the balance of the game, only fixes a quest. A quest that players put days of work into, to reach. It's a fitting reward for time invested. Not overpowered, or unbalanced. Human monks can also do this quest with faction work.

The lack of the Dev response on this topic lead me to stop playing. Much time invested and still no big fix isn't encouraging.

It is following the time line, as have most bugs of this sort.
