Not entirely true, there were many sane voices that mentioned guard assists and resists being messed up before launch, these were largely ignored.

In the long run I don't think it would've mattered all that much, those early days with 400-600 pop were never coming back anyway, but it might've retained 200 pop which is all the server really needed.

I'm not talking about the 30 or 40 of us that beta-tested. What we had wasn't near enough to find problems with the code and the resists. Everyone wanted to rush to get the server going and no one (save a few) wanted to extend beta through 2-3 months worth of testing.

The only fail on Rogean's part was to go live before it was ready.
